Hi all,
My family is booked at Universal RPR 12/21-12/28/16 just wondering what kind of holiday stuff they do we are usually at WDW but decided to go to the dark side this year. Also which hotel for Xmas dinner has the best experience?
Thanks

I cannot answer the Christmas Dinner question, but we have gone in early December and it was simply awesome. No crowds, but I don't believe that will be the case for you.

Unlike MK, the Christmas celebration/parades/shows are not a separate ticket. We found the decorations to be fantastic, and much of the celebration is focused in Seussland - Grinchmas! If you are a fan of the Grinch, the stage show is phenomenal. There is a Christmas Parade at Universal, and Mannheim Steamroller has played at Universal (again, not a separate ticket). Even the first week of December, the concert was a little crazy, and if Universal has struggled in the past, it has been with concert crowds.

All in all, the entirety of the parks are decorated different, and the holiday buzz is great. The weather is perfect, and its a great time to travel to Universal.

I hope everything we had holds true for the actual holiday week!!!

Comcast purchased Dreamworks that owns the rights to all of the great animated Christmas classics they show on tv each year. Rudolph, frosty, etc. I went last year and saw all of the cool Macy's stuff all over. I am keeping my fingers crossed that they include the newly purchased characters somehow :)

The Christmas decorations at USF are nice but not over the top Disney's. Most of the decorations are centered in the Production Central/New York sections of the park spilling over a little bit into Hollywood. So, in general, in front of the lake. They have the big tree and some of the bigger Macy's balloons that are too big to traverse the parade route on display. Otherwise, the decorations look very much "film set". That is to say, the "normal" decorations you'd see it a "normal" town but done up a little bit bigger because their going to be "on film".

IOA has Decorations mainly in Port of Call and Seuss Landing. The Decorations in Seuss Landing are whimsical as to be expected. The Decorations in both HP area are very subdued and understated. Limited to items like wreaths on the doors. Very prim and proper. Initially JK didn't approve any of the Christmas decoration for the WWOHP. But, that must have softened over time.

The How the Grinch Stole Christmas show in IOA is excellent. The Blues Brother's Christmas show in USF is good. I didn't go see Barney.

There are rumors that there will be a "Yule Ball" event for Potter this year, but nothing has been formally announced yet.

I was wondering about that. I haven't heard anything since the rumors came out earlier this year, so I assumed it was on the backburner while they figure out logistics. That would be a big production to pull off before this Christmas season. I'd be all for it though since we're heading there in December.:yay:
