I am going to buy her a sewing machine as a present-she has taken basic sewing all ready and wants to sew more things-along with that I am going to give her a "coupon" for intermediate sewing classes that will start in January.

No longer into toys and barbies. she is no help as she doesn't know right now what she wants either. :confused3

We don't visit the zoo much, as it's not all that. nor the museums around here as they go it seems every year in school for a field trip.

She is not "name brand" obsessed and I do shop at Plato's Closet except she is in a funky size for jeans.

We rent video games as I don't like spending 40-50 each game and she finishes them or gets bored.

We also rent movie dvd's, as going to the theater has gotten ridiculous.

She has begun to learn how to really cook, maybe her own baking set?

And what for stocking stuffers?

Help please. TIA

My 12 year old daughter is getting an iphone, Uggs, PINK lounge set (came with free PINK bag and lipgloss), a season pass to a local amusement/water park, and an itunes gift card (traded in rewards points). She wants a laptop, but maybe her grandparents can spring for that. For stocking stuffers she likes lip glosses, mini perfumes, funky socks, jewelry, books, candy, funky scarves and gloves, and gift cards.

How about buying material for her to sew and maybe some basic patterns. Fleece is easy to sew into cute hats, so maybe look for a hat pattern and some fleece. Maybe a purse pattern with cotton material.

For stocking stuffers, some smaller sewing supplies like spools of thread, extra bobbins, a seam ripper, bias tape, that type of thing.

Don't forget all the extras needed for a new machine!

Needles, thread etc fit a stocking really well.

A gift card to a fabric store.

Makeup, nail polish

Santa always bring a new pair of PJ's here.

Artscow has a special right now - 3 cosmetic bags shipped for $8 total.

Never wanting to disappoint, get any 3 cosmetic bags on today’s deal for just $8, including free worldwide shipping. Put in the code during checkout and discounted price will be applied.

Coupon Code: 3CBAGSFOR8

Expiry Date: 11/24/2010

Choose from multiple pre-designed templates for gift ideas.

Please note you can choose any cosmetic bag sizes and they can be individually designed. Please be reminded to set the quantity to the total number of bags required e.g. if you want to order 9 bags, set the quantity to 9.

You can get any size - maybe you could order her a set and she could keep her sewing stuff in one of them. And then have a cosmetic bag and an extra.

Does she like to read, what about an e-reader?

I know you said that you don't go to the movies because they are so expensive, but what about a GC to the movies. I know you are still spending the money, but I look at the experience as the gift (since you don't normally go).

I don't see any books on your list, mine always get books. You could go fiction or a good sewing book.

How about a needlecraft kit? If she likes to sew she probably would like to cross stitch or needlepoint.

A knitting or Crocheting kit- my DD really liked to knit when she was your DD's age.

A nice pair of earrings since she isn't a little kid anymore.

A bunch of bangle bracelets

A small purse with a long strap so when she starts going with friends-again since she isn't a little kid anymore. My DD in college has one and she uses it more than her big one, wears it across her chest so it stays on, she has a good fossil one but you can find regular ones anywhere.

warm slippers or slipper socks for when she is sewing!

some bath stuff

A perfume set of a nice light scent again not a kids one but one aimed for teens, Britney Spears has a couple nice scents that my DD wore at that age.

A sewing box or basket to keep her thread.

a magazine subscription

a cookbook

My DD11 is looking for a Bop-it, a Microscope, the digital scrabble game, a pogo stick, a camera and some American Girl things. Now I'm not saying she's going to get all of that, but I thought some of it might give you an idea.

I have to agree, if she's getting into sewing then additional needles, GCs to Joannes or boxes of thread could be some great things. She'll definitely need empty bobbins or maybe even a bobbin winder. Pins!! Some really good scissors - there's some spring loaded ones that can be pricey but good for fabric cutting.

If she's cooking, then maybe you could get her an empty recipe book so she can start gathering her own recipes and then give her one of your favorite ones to get her started.

Stocking stuffers - what about school stuff, fun erasers, pencils, calculator. Mittens, fun scarfs, earrings, bracelets, funny socks, furry slippers.

Amazon has a bracelet making kit I'm considering for dd. It's the kind that kind of weaves or braids the threads...It looks kind of complicated, but maybe it's not...some reviews say yes, some no..its made by ALEX for 17.xx Thought maybe your dd might like it as well, sort of related to sewing I guess. And dd just brought home a bracelet that looks like this that her bff made her, so maybe these are popular now?????

Keep an eye out for the Groupon for movie tickets. I bought some the other week, 4 for 20.00. The last ones have been 6 for 30.00.
