Hi I am looking at flights for dec 21st (to 23rd) out and 4th (to 7th) jan back.

Can fly from GLA, EDI and MAN (lon at a push) but the prices so far seem much higher than in the past.

At this time of year we usually find booking a package fly drive with VH the best value, in 2009 paid £2700 for 2A and 2 teens includding flex tickets and a free limo disney meal and fully inclusive car insurance :cool1:. This year they are quoting £3256 for 3A and 1 teen with car insurance.

I have tried looking for other flights only (no car) but they are all looking about £2800 with 2 stops form scotland or 1 stop from manchester. So not saving much. The best deals so far all seem to be to Miami Gla - mia 2 stops but can only get back to Lon as gla does not seem to be available on return for £1800.

What do the flight experts on here think
Should I hold off or will the other companies release prices be similar/higher, the prices out now have already gone up about £50 since last week.
What is the drive from miami to orlando like after a long flight has anyone tried this to save money.
Is £3256 a now considered a reasonable price for flydrive for 4 at xmas. What were the 2010 prices like, as its a big jump from the 2009 price, and probably a jump too far for us.

Last time I flew similar dates was Xmas 2008, cost me £580pp with VH for flight & hotel (Fairfield Inn LBV)
Same flights and same hotel for this Xmas £969pp(no car or tix)
Not a chance I would pay it. Too early for flight only.
I would drive up from Miami if I had to but never had to yet.

thanks for that wayneg, So far only BA, IBERIA, AIR CANADA and LUFTHANSA, have flight only prices out for these dates, do you think when the US airline put flights out their prices will be about the same as these? Also do you know what the returns prices were like for Xmas 2010 for VH and/or any of the US airlines from Man. We need to get price down to about £2300 to be able to go and we cannot change dates as eldest is at uni so needs to be back for start of term. Starting to think we will need to do the mia- mco drive!

PS thanks for the tip on DC we will def use it if we get booked up before promo ends - we had a great deal last time $49 non swin and $149 swim but had to cancel as temp was near zero in Jan 2010. DC were very good about and gave us a refund as eldest was still recovering from ill health and we did not want her to swim in those temps.

Unfortunately can't possibly know what the prices will be like. Gone are the days of guessing what airlines will do. Only about 3 weeks before they release them.

Its a good price for DC, especially if in peak season. not sure I would want to go Nov~Apr though, I will only go in water parks May~Oct and only if a hot day.
