Xcaret excusion

Has anyone done this? (OK, I'm sure someone has so could you tell me about it?)

I read about this place once, never dreaming that I would actually be in the area and would really like to go there. The price though, is steep for a family of five.

Should I even consider doing on our own? There's seems like a lot more 'sensible' places to go to.

My opinion---
We did this excursion 2 years ago and it was enjoyable. Not as much fun as when we could stay longer during an earlier vacation. There is a lot to see and do. The problem with the ship's excursion at that time was that Disney had changed shore transportation accomodations and there were several snafus that ate into the precious time that was alotted.
If it is more organized now, I would recommend it. If there is the same confusion onshore, I would not.
You definitely want to take the Disney excursion. If something happens, the ship will wait. If you are on someone elses excursion, the ship probably will not wait.

My wife and I visited Xaret on another cruise line four years ago. I thought it was awesome. It is very clean and very interesting with the snorkeling, beaches, historical representation of the ages and the night time shows were great. I really can't remember what the cost was but if your kids are 7 and up I think they would get a kick out of the place. Eric
