I think we're going to be getting my sons (7 and 12) an Xbox One for Christmas. Any tips for getting deals on the console and games? I know they'll want Minecraft, FIFA, Star Wars Battlefront. I know they'll want the Live subscription to be able to play with friends. Thanks for any advice!

Black Friday would be your best bet for a console. Its still early on but so far the best reported deals for an Xbox One is:

Dell Home & Office Black Friday: Xbox One S 500GB Battlefield 1 Bundle + Gears of War 4 + Extra Xbox One Wireless Controller for $249.99
Kohl's Black Friday: 500GB Microsoft Xbox One S Minecraft Bundle + $75 Kohl's Cash for $249.99 <-- this is probably your best bet.
Xbox One S 1 TB Battlefield 1 Deluxe edition + Elite Controller (Bundle) $400 at Costco

Found sound current ones too:
Walmart has 500GB Microsoft Xbox One S Console Bundle w/ 4K Movie + Extra Game + Wired Controller on sale for $299.
Newegg.com has Xbox One S Console Bundles on sale. on sale for . Shipping is free

Both results are from Slickdeals.net searches.

When it comes to Xbox One Live cards, u can find them for around $35 at random times and places. Hold off on buying them for more than that.
Good Luck!

Do you want the Xbox one or the Xbox one s? The S is the latest version and it will has more memory. I don't know if it has any other differences. The regular one will be cheaper of course. Make sure you know which one you want to compare successfully.

One S can be 500gb or 1 T. Also the S is white, slimmer design and can support 4K. However you then need a 4K TV isf you want to see the difference there.

Every year on amazon or newegg on black friday I buy the 12 month live for around $35/40, instead of $60. You can get physical cards or digital codes usually.

Games-just keep checking for them on the black friday sites to see which store will have the best deals. You also can ck what deals microsoft may have for the games as digital downloads. I often get the boys GC for there so they can do select as they want.

My 2DS are heavy gamers on pc and xbox one, they have the 500 original xbox one and have no problem with the memory amount thus far and it is about 2 yrs.

I am also in the market for an xbox, but my son said he does not want the one s, because then he can't play live with his friends who have the one. Does anyone know if this is true?

Not sure if that one is true because the one and one S are still the same system the S has just been upgraded to work a little better and is a smaller case.

However most people won't be able to experience what makes the Xbox one S different. Unless you have a 4K television and care about 4K games and movies then save the money and stick with the original. We are only upgrading because we have a launch day One that is starting the struggle and wanted a 4K bluray player anyways so two birds with one stone if we just upgrade the Xbox.

Thank you - Do you know where is the cheapest place to get the Xbox one? All of the deals I see are for the one S.

Not really sure. We usually get our at Best Buy because we have the gamer membership there so end up saving a lot. You might check Game Stop or Best Buy and see. I'm seeing the regular Xbox for about 249 and that includes a name your game bundle basically meaning you get 1 game of your choice from a list as well as the system controllers and I believe kinect.

I signed up for Slickdeals alerts about a month ago for this very reason. I'd REALLY like to pay less than $249, but for now, that's the best I'm seeing. I'm hoping to score a deal around Black Friday/Cyber Monday.

I don't think that is true at all but verify with someone else. Xbox live is a network. As long as you have the live subscription and compatible games I know that you can currently play Xbox one and Xbox 360 together. So I wouldn't think s would be any different.

Costco has the Xbone One S 500M with Minecraft for $230 for Black Friday. Best Buy will have the 1Tb Battlefield 1 version for $299 with an extra free controller.

Does anyone know if they ever sell these consoles (new, not refurbished) NOT as part of a bundle? I feel like that could help cut the cost for me since the 2 games I know my son wants aren't ever part of bundles (that I've seen).

I'm having the same issue. My son plays primarily sports games. He wants the Madden bundle or something similar, but I haven't found it on sale anywhere.

Walmart has a lot of the sports games including Madden for 29.99 on Black Friday.

I am leaning towards the Minecraft bundle from Target and buying Madden separately.

That's how I'm leaning too. Have you noticed that the Madden bundle is usually for the console with more memory? Do you think that matters?

You are going to want the system with the most hard drive space (that you want to pay for). Xbox One games have to be installed on the hard drive to be played. Some of the games can be 35+gigs before any updates, which can be pretty big themselves.

You can always add later an external hard drive if the internal fills up if needed.

Yes, the Madden bundle I saw had more memory and I haven't seen that one on sale.

I think we will just get an external hard drive if the internal fills up as ThisIsJason suggested.
