We can only afford one. It will be for my DS (11) primarily and our DD(4).

Which would be a better system to buy and why?

Currently, we have a gamecube system. Would this matter in terms of which we get? I figure the Wii or XBox 360 will replace the gamecube or does any of the games work on the Wii too?

Thanks for your help! :cool2:

We have all the systems in our house, and personally as a mom, I love the Wii.

It gets my kids off their butts, and they play together. No where near as much fighting over the games as with the other systems.

We've also had Wii parties and the kids can participate as much as the adults. And let me tell you, it's great watching a 5yo kick my DH's butt at bowling :teeth:

Oh, I don't think the gamecube games work for a Wii.
But then we've never tried.

I do know some of the Xbox games won't work on the Xbox360.

I'm pretty sure that the gamecube games do work on the Wii--or at least that's what I read somewhere. We have a gamecube, but are getting the Wii this Christmas. There is supposed to be a port for the gamecube controllers on the Wii as well.

game cube games definately work in a wii

(boys are playing one in a wii as I type)

we don't have an xbox 360...

but, I think the wii would be better for something your kids can play on a pretty level playing field.

The Wii is backward-compatible to all Nintendo GameCube games and includes four ports for controllers and two slots for memory cards.
I got this from the Nintendo website.

I vote for the Wii. It's definitely a fun system.

We have a PS2, PS3, and Wii. The Wii is fun and very interactive!

Wii Baby!!! I've Actually Have Really Sore Muscles From Using The Wii Play Games. My Sides Hurt And I've Lost About 15 Pounds Playing Tennis, Baseball, Bowling And Boxing...............love It Love It Love It

My DS (13) has both. We vote for the Wii. IOHO, Nintendo is the best out there for younger kids. Yes, the Wii will play gamecube games.

Enjoy!! :thumbsup2

Can't add much more than has already been said. Wii is awesome. More stuff coming out all the time that adults can enjoy as well as the kids. Wii Fit - an exercise game! - will come out next year. We can hardly wait.

OK Wii experts, I just picked up a system for the kids for the holidays..they have no idea and I really hope that it will be something they like! So what games do I get??? I have a 10 y.o. girl and 7 y.o. boy. Help!!!!

We have a 360 and wii. the 360 never gets played. And we had a few gamecube games that stopped working on the gamecube and when we tried them on the wii they worked. We love the Wii

I don't have an xbox I have a wii and a playstation. I play the wii more! The age of your kids are better suited for nintendo games anywayse. I think you would find more wii games they want to play then xbox games.

I also think the Wii is likely better for younger kids.

BUT, the 360 "blows away the competition" on the games that are not Sports type, etc....think Halo 3...certainly not for the tikes but the older kids LOVE LOVE LOVE It!
