XBOX 360 games for 10 yo boys?

Help please! I hate buying expensive video games and then having the kids not play them! My sons are 10 and love "Minecraft" and playing online with their friends. However, most of their friends now are playing "Call of Duty", which I will NOT let them play! Any suggestions for other games they would like that aren't too violent but not too babyish, either? They've played all the Lego games and play Halo with dh. (Shooting aliens is okay as long as it isn't too graphic, lol)

My 11 year old and 14 year old are telling me:

Skylanders and Skylanders Giants. With those come additional purchases if he wants to add to the collection of the characters he would be able to play with.
LEGO games
Mario Games
Halo Wars and Halo 4 (aliens)
Plants VS Zombies

My 10 year nephew loves the Skylanders and any of the Lego games (Batman, Indiana Jones, etc).

You might also look into Skyrim. Both my DH and my 19 year old son love it. It's an RPG game that seems to be never-ending and I think it's much better than those shooter games. I actually watch them play it.

My DS was 13 when I finally let him get Call of Duty games. He might have gotten the one rated T a little earlier. Its very hard to be the one hold-out-mom, so I know what you are dealing with!

What types of games do your DSs enjoy? Are they into sports or super heroes or star wars?

My DS did love all the Lego games. He also enjoyed the NBA2K games, Madden and NCAA football games, some MLB games. There are lots of fun Spiderman games (I think the Amazing Spiderman got good reviews). My son enjoyed Star Wars Force Unleashed. My DS felt he was too old for Skylanders when it first came out, and was completely obssessed with COD by then, but I do believe he would have really loved it when he was 10.

It might be a good idea to rent some games at the video store to let them try them out before you buy any. Otherwise, trying them at friends' houses is good too.

My 18-yr. old has all the violent war games but we were amazed when he stopped playing them and started Minecraft. He plays almost exclusively now. I know there is another game that is similar to Minecraft but in outer space. He plays that on his PC.

I adore Skyrim! The Elder Scrolls is my favorite game series. But it is rated M.

Do you have a games top nearby? If you buy used you have 7 days to try it and you can return it if the kids don't like it. They guarantee used to work for 30 days. I don't have any game suggestions.

My 11 year old loves Skylanders and there is a Disney game coming out in August called Infinity that seems to be similar. You play with figurines on a portal and the characters play together in their various "worlds". They can be Sully or Jack Sparrow attacking the Underminer from the Incredibles, I think. That is going to be his b-day present this year!!!

He is also addicted to Forza motorsports racing games (Horizon). True, he loves super cars, but his friends love them too.
