from snopes.com

Origins: We don't yet know who is responsible for the piece quoted above, but it definitely wasn't actor-comedian Robin Williams (of Mork & Mindy fame). This item's debut appears to have been a 20 March 2003 posting to the USENET newsgroup alt.motorcycles.harley, and from there it was rapidly disseminated via e-mail and blogs, credited to either "author unknown" or no one at all. The Robin Williams attribution wasn't tacked on until several weeks later, apparently because along the way someone appended a genuine Robin Williams quote to the list as an eleventh item:

"The Statue of Liberty is no longer saying 'Give me your poor, your tired, your huddled masses.' She's got a baseball bat and she's yelling, 'You want a piece of me?'" - Robin Williams.
Obviously the Robin Williams attribution for the final item was interpreted as applying to the list as a whole, so now the entire piece is making the rounds as 'the Robin Williams plan.'

Personally I don't care who said it or wrote it..........I agree with most of it!

Who cares if Snopes said that Robin Williams did or did not write it. I could care less. I just thought it was cute. If you dont - you can go to another post... Just plain simple.

Please don't take my post the wrong way.

I don't care who wrote it either, I thought the post was great, and I agree with most of it.

But I just don't think it should be attributed to Robin Williams if he did not write it.

I don't care who wrote it either, its very cute and I agree with loads of it, especially the part about speaking CORRECT ENGLISH!

On top of that, it's hard to believe Williams would say things like that.

I agree with EsmeraldaX that this shouldn't be attributed to anyone in particular if it is shown that the person didn't say/write it.

BTW - I don't think what you posted is even remotely cute. I can think of several adjectives to describe what it is but "cute" isn't even close.

Your username is appropriate, though. Sheath those claws, would you? That's just so cute...

BTW --- I DONT even know who Robin Williams is, that is why I dont care.

huh?

You're profile indicates your over 40 and you don't know who Robin Williams is?

Surely you've seen Mork and Mindy in the late 70's. (Geez, has it been that long???)

You've heard his voice in Aladdin (the Genie).

You don't know who Robin Williams is?

I don't think the diatribe is cute either.

You don't see any problem attributing this to someone that you don't know when you yourself admit you don't know that person said it? That must mean I can start threads saying you said something... since I don't know you. OK, I just wanted to be sure I understood the ground rules. Most boards I've been on expect their users to not slander or libel others.

My user name though is none of your business. It is not CATi - it is Katie.... short for my DD.

No disrespect intended toward your daughter.

DizneyKaren, I am not even going there with you.

Cati - It was not my intention to hurt your feelings. Instead I'd hoped to point out that this kind of thing should be researched first if you are going to attribute it to someone and cannot be positive that person is responsible for the contents. Even then, it is best to provide a link for others to see where this information can be found elsewhere.

If you had chosen to keep it as a simple "I got this in the email and thought it was cute" without saying any specific person said it, I don't think you'd have received the posts you did specific to Robin Williams. With the advent of the Internet, too many things float around that get posted and reposted, emailed and forwarded without anyone taking the time to check the facts... which is usually pretty easy with the right search tool.
