i am just about ready to book my christmas trip airfare for dec 20-25 i have two airports in chicago to chose from the best price so far is air tran at midway for a non stop flight is $507.00 for 2 adults round trip i am interested if anyone found a better deal

dont forget air trans you have to pay for your luggage and a seat assignment if you choose to book your seats. Ho;lidays are always high, i book my flight soon as SW opens their dates for christmas. I paid $ 89.00 each way.
I would look at SW, if SW is the same price as Air Tran, plus luggage fees and seat assignment fees I would go with SW. if sales/Dings come up you can get a credit for the future. Unless if you like Air Trans flights times over SW. Good Luck!

like pp said, SW had the best deal months ago as soon as they opened dates. You also have no penalties with SW if you need to change your dates. I feel your pain, as a family of 4, we are driving in December but we have a longer amount of time. We need to visit family in conjunction with our WDW trip so also need a car ( who's rates are ALSO insane) right now for us it would run almost $1900 just for air and rental car :scared1: Chicago rarely has deals to MCO, even tougher at any holiday. I think right now you are doing good with that rate, pack light so you guys can only pay for 1 suitcase maybe, and also maybe not worry abut the $6 seat? that adds $24 RT for 2.

i drive down too with my husband we stay for a month but i fly my 2 daughters down for christmas week they have to get back to work so they can only stay a few days i think because of the time i will have to be air tran my daughters want to be home to have christmas dinner with the family

Don't know where your DDs are in Chicago, but, have you looked at any of the "alternate" airports? Allegiant Air flies out of Rockford. You can get some pretty good deals there. And parking your car is free at the Rockford airport! That is a huge savings right there. Or, if they are in the northern suburbs, you could look at Mitchell Field in Milwaukee.

Just something to think about. Good Luck!

I've started to book flights out of Milwaukee more and more. I live in the north suburbs so it is more convenient than midway for me. Southwest begins flights in Milwaukee in Nov. so check on that.

we live minutes from o'hare i really don't want my daughters driving from Milwaukee on christmas day only because they want to make it home for a family dinner but i will keep it in mind for future trips

How far are you from Detroit Metro Airport (DTW)...a couple hours??? For your dates, it's $155.00 per person from that airport on AirTran, and $178.00 per person on Delta and Northwest. :thumbsup2
