Last year i paid full price and was soo mad to see so many deals -

when do the best deals come out on this any idea?

Xbox Gold memberships go on sale all the time. Do a Google search for sales. I have also gotten a good price buying these on eBay.

I see them often but usually around Black Friday is the time to grab them, same with PlayStation cards. Keep an eye on Cheap A$$ Gamer (add s's not dollar signs ) as they usually post deals of the day from many stores.

Saw a deal on Groupon today. I think there is a $10 off groupon deal going on as well.

Lisaross. May I ask on your thread. What does a mom need to know about xbox live for a young teenager? Are we inviting strangers into our home? Can they get any personal info or hack into anything? Thank you.

Anyone/anything can be hacked at any time. I don't worry about it, as the only way to hack-proof yourself is to never go online.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'inviting strangers into your home' . Xbox Live is used to play games online with others, so if your kid wants to group up with others to play then I guess yes, you would be inviting folks into your home .

Maybe others are more knowledgeable about this, but I think you can set up parental controls for the xbox that will limit the type of content kids can access. I think you can also limit who they are able to chat with while playing online. As far as being hacked, goes, if it connects to the internet, then I suppose there is always that risk.

The struggle/benefit with Xbox is that players can talk via headphones with players all over the globe when they're playing. There are options to play only closed games that have a specific invite list, but most kids I know play a lot of open games that anyone can join. My son is always reminded never to give out any personal info - not his sports team names, not his high school name, nothing like that. A lot of boys play Call of Duty and like games, and these draw old and young alike. The language between players can be a bit mature sometimes.
