We finally broke down and did something I said I would never do....well Santa did it for us. :rotfl2:
We bought the kids an X-Box 360 for Christmas.... We got it at Costco and it comes with a bunch of stuff the ones at Target didn't come with but honestly I have no idea what we bought or if we will need to buy extra stuff to go with it. It does come with two games already in it and then I purchased two two-pack bundles at Costco for the kids too. So we will have a total of 6 games at this time. Then I bought DD Dance, Dance Revolution and we are still looking for Guitar Hero III for DS and at that we should be done. What are other games you can recommend? DS is 12 and DD is almost 10. DS and DD have NO interest in sports. I will not do anything that is marked Mature but may do a Teen if it is not that bad. I would like one more game each if possible. A

ny suggestions for games? Or do we need to purchase anything to use the console with? I don't want to open it on CHristmas Day and not be able to use it becasue we are missing something....... :confused3

HELP! I know nothing about these type of systems as both DH and I are not gamers....... this is new waters we are treading on........

It sounds like you have everything, I recommend Viva Pinata. Its a really fun game you have to raise pinatas, its very kid friendly.

My niece and nephews (age 10) asked for Thrillville. It was rated "E" - so we're set with that.

Make sure you get the Extended Warranty.

Xbox 360s have a 33% failure rate, whereas the PS3 and Wii have a less than 5% failure rate. Also, after getting 360 accessories, you will end up spending MORE on it than if you got a PS3.

i agree get the warranty and get a cooling fan attachment..maybe a wireless controller too.

6 games is a great start...I say give them a gift card from Game Stop or E Bgames if you have one around or even Circuit city and they can pick out a game that they may want that is different. Racing games are always a bit hit.

You can check with the abouve stores for Guitar Hero 111 that is where we got ours after it was sold out every where else.

Here is a link that you can go to to find a store near you.....than you can call around from the list and see whio may have it:thumbsup2 look at the top right for "Store Locator"

Merry Christmas

DSs have XBOX 360 but I can't remember if it comes with 2 controllers. If your kids are going to want to play some games together, be sure to have 2 controllers. Many of the game systems (we just bought PS3 last night) come with only 1 controller. :)

Also, they sell extra DDR mats...it's fun to watch your kids do synchronized dance moves

EDITED TO ADD: Speaking of DDR, did you get the starter version that includes the mat?? You can buy DDR with the mat and without it. The kids will need to have a mat to play! I'm only mentioning this because you said that you and your DH aren't gamers and are not familiar, not because I think you're stupid!! :)

My DD's (8) and (10) LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, Viva Pinata, for the XBox 360. We are also looking into getting them Viva Pinata Party Animals. Other than that, they like the Marvel, Ultimate Alliance game. There really aren't many kids games for XBox 360 (IMO), and the girls play the Wii much more often.

Thank you EVERYONE... I have no idea if it comes with one or two controllers.... no idea if the DDR is the mat too or not but it is already wrappped. My kids already know I am stupid about viedo games. :rotfl: :rotfl:

We do have a GameStop in our city. I will call there today and maybe get lucky for Guitar Here.

Didn't know anything about the fans being needed - will check into that too as well as trying to get an extended warranty. We bough it at Costco so they are ususlly good about returns but not sure how long for.

The WII was no where to be found out here and I was not standing in a line for 12+ hours for the possibility of getting one. Hopefully she will enjoy this one. The Pinate game I did see and maybe we will have to pickup after Christmas. This mama is done shopping!

Merry Christmas everyone and thank you!

Another thing, if you have the wireless controller you might want to get the recharger. They also sell wired controllers but I'm not sure how all of that works.

All of this adds up doesn't it? I suspect it'll be worth it once you have everything. :)

You are golden if you bought it from costco. They have an awsome return program. I have taken in a broken item that I bought over 2 years ago and they took it back for a full refund.

If your kids like movies they have Scene-it for the 360. It comes with four button controlers ( only used for the game ) and it could be fun for the whole family.

For DDR, if it's the size of the other games, it doesn't have the mat. If it's much bigger, and in an actual box, it has the mat. Other than that, I am useless on Xbox 360s, lol. Hope I helped!!

Yes the 360 has a failure problem but Microsoft is replacing those machines. Costco also has an awesome return policy (the official is 6 months but they will be generous).

I believe the costco bundle (at least the one I got last year) comes with 2 wireless controllers.

It was a much bigger box so hopefully I have the mat too! I plan to use this game to get in shape! Plan to get myself off the computer and TV and excercise. :happytv:

Thank you for your advice... I think I may need a second controller and then a cooling system.... after that the kids can earn more games with chores around the house... this may be a win win for me....
