We have stayed at Disney Resorts up until now (latest was AofA). We are a family of 6 and decided to go with the Wyndham Grand because we had points that could cover 4 nights. A bit bummed we can't do the Disney Dining Plan since it was mindless which I liked. So, a few questions for people who have stayed here (at the Grand: hotel).

1. We are booked in a double queen plus bunk bed room. How big is the mini fridge? Can a 1/2 gallon of milk fit in?

2. Are we allowed to use the pools around the Wyndham (time share) portion of the resort?

3. Are there any reasonably priced restaurants on site or are we better off going off site?

Thank you!

Yes, you may use any of the pools in the WBC resort. We like the restaurant by building 5. It is about the price of Disney restaurants. We timeshare in a condo so cook most of our meals.

We stayed there for a week in july 2014. we loved it. DH would rather stay there than on any disney on-site, even a deluxe. we are heading down to orlando for a quick 3-day trip in april and will likely stay at the wyndham grand again.

we did have a mini fridge but i can't remember the size. we fit a boatload of bottled waters in it, though. i've found them very helpful on the phone, so you might be able to call and ask about the size of the mini fridge.

you can use any of the pools and lazy rivers around the resort, as well as the other amenities, such as free mini golf, or cabanas (those have a fee). some of the equipment, like the mini golf stuff, has to be picked up in buildings that are across the lake from where you will be. it's not a large area by any means, though, so not difficult to get.

we were very pleasantly surprised by the Tesoro Cove restaurant in the lower level of the hotel. i believe it is a buffet for breakfast and then offers a sit-down dinner. we had dinner there and our food and service were both excellent, for a very reasonable price if i recall correctly. we went on our last night and i wish we had gone sooner, as we would have likely gone multiple times had we discovered it earlier. there is also a coffee bar in the lobby area that has gelato and sandwiches; we'd often grab a ham and cheese croissant there for a cheap but tasty lunch.

just a tip - ask for a room with a view of the lake. our room last time looked out over the front of the hotel and the view was meh. views of the lake are much nicer, and if you're up high you can sometimes see fireworks from the parks. also, if you want to escape the kids a little bit ;) , the spa was a bit pricey but excellent.

Don't be bummed, I have a feeling that you won't be disappointed by not staying on property

We're also a family of 6 and we stayed there last summer when we went to KSC. It was really nice. The mini fridge is small but as I recall a half gallon of milk should fit with no problem. We were able to see fireworks from our room and the pools were nice. We had dinner one night in the Italian restaurant and it was very good. I remember it being pricey, but by Disney standards it was probably pretty reasonable.

Any good restaurants not on property but close? We will have a car

We only spent 3 nights there and we were mostly there to sleep, but there wasn't anything super close that I noticed, but if I understand correctly, they do have buses that got to Disney. We didn't use them, so I don't know how convenient they are, but you might be able to get to Disney Springs. Since you'll have a car, I don't think it was super far to places that would have a number of choices.

Disney Boardwalk is not far at all. Just take a left at the light and turn right after the fire station. And Disney Springs is to the Right. Bonnet Creek is pretty much in between both, but Disney Springs is alot easier to get into now that it has an exit that goes over the road to Disney Springs. Just takes a while to find parking.

Disney Springs is pretty close too, we stay at the Timeshares and pop over pretty frequently (we have a car)
