I believe there are 2 water slides at Wyndham Bonnet Creek, right? Does anyone know if there are restrictions to them? For example, min. height or must be able to swim on their own? My kids will be 4 and 6 - will they be able to do either of the slides?

Thanks!

One of my coworkers was there a few years ago and the slides weren't very high, and there were no restrictions. There was also dedicated area's for little ones to play in and a lazy river for tubing.
They also have arts and crafts, game rooms, ice cream socials, etc...

Thanks, everyone. From pictures, it looks like one slide (the blue one) empties into a deep pool and you have to be able to swim. It looks like it's roped off so an adult cannot be there to catch a child. The other one, though (pirate slide) looks like it just ends and does not empty into a pool. So, you don't have to be able to swim for that one?

There isn't a "kiddie" slide at WBC, right? A short one for small children? It seems silly, but water slides are really important to my kids and may make or break our decision to stay here. Thanks!

We were there last year and my son wasn't allowed to go on the waterslide because it emptied into 5' water and I wanted him to wear his swim vest on it. They would not allow him to wear a swim vest on it, nor would they allow me to wait for him and help him at the bottom. He was just learning how to swim so not independent in deep water like that.

The pirate slide (tower 6) does not empty into any pool. It just ends, so there is no swimming required at the end of the slide. However, as I mentioned above, there is a min. height required. I cant speak for any other slide at WBC.

I was just there last week with my twin 7 year old boys. The pirate slide has a 48" height requirement. It doesn't end in a pool (very weird). My boys have been swimming since infancy, and one of them is in a dive program, but they were not 48" so couldn't do it.

The blue slide either did not have a height requirement or it was less than 48". There was a lifeguard at the blue slide. That one did end up in a pool. The boys could use that one.

Thanks, everyone. What a bummer that one of my kids is tall enough and not the other. Oh well, that's typical in Disney World!

In order to use the blue slide at the pool between Tower 2 & 3, the child must be able to swim to the side of the pool without assistance. An adult cannot wait at the bottom of the slide. The child cannot wear any vests or swimming aids. I will say that the current at the bottom is quite strong, so the child would need to a strong swimmer. While we were there, the lifeguards were very attentive in watching the kids using the slide.

We just returned from WBC and I was a little disappointed that there wasn't a slide for smaller kids to use. The pirate slide didn't empty into open water so I could not see why a supervised child could not go on. When my son was 4 he was able to use the kid slide at stormalong bay at BC as long as someone caught him.

Just back from WBC and I have a couple of comments:

First of all, the height requirement at both slides is 48"

Secondly, if you'd done the slide at the Pirate Pool you'd understand the requirement. It is very fast and dark. I think the 48" requirement is sensible, plus it keeps things consistent between the two slides.

This is the first time I've heard that. Can someone confirm it empties into 5ft water?

I was just there last week and the pool is 3 ft 6" around the edges and gradually goes deeper until it is 5 ft in the middle.

Where the end of the slide is, it is about 4 ft deep there and there is a very strong current from the water that comes off the slide that pushes the slider over to the right hand side/ladder of the pool.

I was very nervous about letting my 8 yr old go down the slide because he can only doggy paddle and not really swim but he did great. I stood on the side right beside the ladder just in case he needed help or went under and didn't come up but he did great every time.

However we did see the lifeguard have to jump in a save a little boy who went down the slide and could not make it to the side. He was about 6 yrs old and his dad was standing by the ladder and just kept standing there even when his son went under. The lifeguard was great - so fast, he was in the water and got the boy within seconds of him being in trouble.

In this photo you can see the strong push of water that comes off the slide with the swimmer. That little circle area is cordoned off with rope with buoys on it (you can faintly see it in the picture)

The 5 ft area of the pool is just on the other side of that rope, kind of right in the centre of the pool where all 3 circles meet.

The centre of the circle where the slide empties is about 4 ft deep (maybe 4 ft 6"??)

Are there only two slides?
Yes -- one at the pool at Tower 2 and the other at the Pirate pool (Tower 6).

Lazy rivers at the main pool and the pool at Tower 5 only.

We decided to wait a couple of years to stay here due to the water slides. It's really important to my kids, so we'll wait until they're both tall enough. Thanks to everyone for the information. It would've been a big bummer to get there and find out they couldn't use the slides.
