I've decided to buy myself a Nikon D80 kit with 18-135mm lens. DD has my
D50 at college and is LOVING it- I can't bear to take it away. Beach and B&H are both selling the kit for the same $$. The only difference is Beach is adding a 4GB card with theirs- I did notice though that with Beach's kit the lens hood wasn't included(I e-mailed to confirm) which it is included in the kit with all other sellers that I've checked.(Ritz, Adorama, Amazon, Abes) They did say they would give me one for free if I called but if all other sellers are advertising that the kit comes with the hood(that lens does come with a hood if purchased separately, also)- does that sound strange? I've bought from both before with no problems.

BeachCamera is actually BuyDigg. They're reputable, but they're more of a generic electronics store, not a "true" camera store like B&H. I've purchased lots of stuff from BeachCamera, because of their competitive prices and I've never had a problem. It's unusual for a kit which includes a hood everywhere else to not include the hood at BeachCamera. Most likely the hood is included, but they neglected to list it on the site.

I would only let a free memory card sway me if it's a good, fast card, not just a large capacity card.

I have bought from Beach and BuyDig quite often. I will second the speculation that the lens hood is in fact included- probably just an oversight to list it. Irregardless if they are going to give you one anyway I would not hesitate to order from them and get the card offer.

I've bought from Beach before and even returned without any problem whatsoever. However, if I had to choose between a lens hood and a memory card, I'd probably go for the hood. I can't imagine, though, that they would be packing the lens without the hood...

Thanks for the replies. Both stores are closed until Thursday so it looks like I'll have to wait to order.
