Should I take my son to school even if it means dragging sick sib's out in the cold?

  • Keep them all home, he'll be fine missing one party

  • Take your son to school, the twins will be fine

my son was out sick from preschool both days last week due to a cold. he's well enough to go today, but his little brother and sister both have it now...they are so miserable. really really sick with it. To take my eldest to preschool I would have to pack the twins up, take them out in the cold to get there, take them out again to take my son into the school and into his classroom. then back home. then repeat it for pickup. I just hate the idea of making them go out when they are this sick, but I hate the idea that Daniel will miss the Valentines party at school.

He's not really said anything about it, and he did just turn 4 yesterday so we had cake and presents here, and he'll have his big party this weekend, so he's certainly not deprived. But I still can't decide what to do. his school day is only 2.5 hours long, is it really worth getting the twins dressed and taking them out for it.

I feel like a mean mom today, like I can't win either way...either one son misses school, or the other two are dragged out.

hmmm...split vote so far. lol. well, I've got about 15 minutes more to make a decision.

If this is his first Val. party, I would take him. It would be nice to take pictures. Can a neighbor come and stay for a few minutes to watch your twins?

I voted to keep him home since you have 2 other children who are sick.

Hope they feel better soon :)

I hope it's not too late now......I would try to take him. They've probably been building up the party for a while and he could be bummed to miss it. Or you could even ask him. Can you leave the twins in the car (locked of course) while you run him in really fast?

Please don't leave twins locked in car. If you bundle them up they should be fine to run in to drop off and pick up.

If your 2 littles are really feeling bad and no one could watch them for you I would just keep him home.
You and he could have your own valentines party at home :)

I voted to keep everyone home.

If your son hasn't made a big deal out of this party, than I wouldn't worry about him missing it. Make a big deal out of Valentines Day at home and bake some cookies or brownies or something. Then when the twins are sleeping maybe you guys can play a game.

It would be easy to take one sick baby out in the cold, but to take two would be easier said than done.

thanks all! I debated and debated and finally decided to take him. I had one of the other moms watch my car while I ran him in. he was so excited to go...guess I did the right thing. at least hope I did. now just have to pick him up. at least the twins were happy to get dressed and breathe the fresh air for the few minutes they were outside. that helped, too.

I'm glad you took him. I find that even though my 4 year old DS doesn't say much about the events at school he knows they are happening and wants to be part of them.

I was going to suggest having another parent watch the twins while you ran in to drop of your DS so I'm glad that worked out for you too.

I know I often offer to stand outside with sleeping infants while mom runs in to drop off their preschooler.

lol. talk about can't win. picked daniel up and there was a note in his box...apparently he bit a kid today. yep, shoulda stayed home.

we had a long talk and I saw the little girl who he bit and her mother and they were very nice about it. still, I was shocked. daniel turned 4 yesterday and has never ever bitten a kid.
