I would stay at the HIFS for $109. With the full breakfast, it is a value. You might want to look into the Country Inn and Suites Calypso Cay in Kissimmee. I think the kid suites usually go for $79-99 a night. It has a continental breakfast that is not as good as HIFS but was just fine for all of us. They also have a waterslide and mini-golf. Water slide is a must for my kids now. Check for an Entertainment rate at both of these. HIFS may have discontinued it, though. We have never stayed on site as a family, I did when I was a kid, and have never felt like we were missing anything. Oh, and with kids the same age we never bothered to go back for a nap, I just let them sleep in the stroller, but both of these hotels are close enough. The HIFS is VERY close.

I stayed at the maingate east and would not stay there again. It was a glorified Motel Six. You can do much better.

Well, I haven't booked anything yet. I now need to find which resorts/hotels have the most generous cancellation policy. We are licensed foster/adopt and our sw has told us that there's a 70% chance we're getting a newborn placement in early to mid Sep! This was really a surprise to us. Part of the reason we booked this trip was that we really needed to have a brief vacation and something positive to look forward to after having to say goodbye to an infant boy that was with us that we thought we were going to adopt. Unfortunately, the court wouldn't/couldn't terminate his birthparents rights and he went to live with another family.

Of course, the way that things work, we won't know until a couple days before our trip - at best - whether we're getting this new placement. We figure we'll make the decision at least 24 hours in advance on whether we go to WDW, but I do need to find a hotel now that will allow me to cancel on only 24 hours notice. I'll take 48 if that's the best I can do, although I'd prefer not.
