WWYD with an extra evening hour at AK?

So I see that Disney added an hour in the evening for AK for the day we are there. Hours were 9-9 and are now 9-10. We are only going there for ONE day.

Currently we have FP+ for Na’vi, EE, and KS for 9,10 and 11.

We also have a dining package at Tusker House for ROL (lunch).

Since they added that extra hour at the end of the day, I could try to get a FP for FoP, but since it would be for the LAST hour of the day, would it be worth it? That would mean no fourth fastpass ALL day. And what about ROL? Will they change the time from 9:15 (as it was before the change) or will they keep it at 9:15 despite the extra hour? Because if they don’t change it from 9:15 then I don’t think we could even use a FP from 9-10 since it would conflict with ROL.

I am hoping this will be the situation for our June days, but hours haven't been changed yet. If that happens, we plan on a safari just before dusk, and then wandering around avatar while its dusk and then dark. Then we will make our way to ride EE at night with single rider so we can get in fast, then some tree of life awakenings and hopefully the later showing of ROL. So far we have a 9pm close with an 8:30 sunset so theres no way we can do even half of these things before close, but hopefully times get extended.

There are now two showings of ROL! Check for your date here - https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/en_CA/entertainment/animal-kingdom/rivers-of-light/

My dates are now showing 9:15 and 10:30! I'm so glad they added a show! I'm planning to be there May 8th and the park hours now show closing at 10 even though the 2nd ROL is listed for 10:30. I'm pretty sure we'll go to the 2nd show.

You’re right, I see that they added a second show for our date. That at least takes that out of the equation. We can definitely make it to a 10:30 ROL if we get FP for FoP from 9-10.

But the question still remains, is it worth not being to get a 4th FP?

You could get in line for FOP during that extra hour, wait times are supposed to be much less than posted.

Yes, I think it is worth not getting the 4th fastpass I you can get one for FOP. You might also want to check, sometimes the dining package is only for the early show.

Now that they’ve added a second show, we’ll probably drop the dining package to just a regular Tusker House lunch and then plan on going to the second show.

What 4th FP do you want at AK? Personally I think FoP is the best use of FP at any park. Get it if you can.

Last year when we went we used them all day. We were hoping to get a 4th for Dinosaur, KRR at least, maybe the Mickey meet and greet. Last year the standby line for Mickey said 22 minutes when we got in. We ended up waiting 45 :crazy2:

Then again, last year there was only 4 of us. And this year there are 7 of us. I’m probably less likely to even get 4th,5th 6th FP+ for a group of 7?

I'd break them up in groups of 3, 2, and 2. I had pretty good luck on spring break getting 4th fast passes for my family for 4 and my son and his friends (who were not getting 4th FP but scheduling them that day because they hadn't gotten their band trip ticket numbers early) who were a group of 5 or 6 depending on the day.
