WWYD - Welcome Show or BOG breakfast?

We only have one morning at MK. (We have another evening on a different day.) Me, DH and DD9.

Since this is our first time at WDW, I'm not sure which we would enjoy more...seeing the Welcome Show or early entry into the park for an 8:00 a.m. BOG reservation (which I just booked). The park is scheduled to open at 9:00 a.m. and I do not anticipate the hours changing (first week of May 2016).

On the other night that we will be at MK, we have a dinner reservation at BOG.

So, BOG breakfast or Welcome Show on our one MK morning?

Thanks!

I would take BOG although to be fair I have never seen the welcome show. I guess I will just have to go back lol. But the early ADR gave us a great breakfast and a head start on the crowds.

I'd stick with BOG breakfast. The welcome show is okay, but you have to stand back to see it, so you won't be one of the first through the park, if that's important to you.

I also choose the Welcome Show since I like it. I think since it's your first time at WDW, it will start the day off with a bang! and make you feel like you are really in Disney!

For those of us how have never seen it, can someone describe the welcome show?

My wife and I had the same debate. If SDMT is a must-do for you, do the BOG breakfast. You will most likely get at least one trip through the mine before the crowds get there (and maybe two). It was also awesome to have pictures with no one in the background on Main Street and in front of the castle. We got so much done by having a jump on the crowd. I really wanted to see the Welcome Show but I'm glad we gave it up to get into the Magic Kingdom early.

If it is the same as when I saw it back in 2014 there are dancers and the Dapper Dans that dance. The Princess come out and then the train pulls up with Mickey. You do have to stand back since it is above the entrance. It brought tears to my eyes but is very short. I would think you may find it some where on ytube so you can decide. Personally I would go with BOG. People have said they let you in at least 15 minutes before your ADR so this could get you a few Castle pictures with very few people in them plus a chance to ride Mine Train ride before rope drop depending how quickly you eat and if you go straight there. Another option would be being one of the first ones in line A&E after you get through with your breakfast.

I would choose the welcome show. I love the welcome show and how it makes me feel. It really makes me feel like I am really at the Magic Kingdom. I would try to get a BOG breakfast that way you get both or do both on different days ( That is if you can get a ressie).

Welcome show. The BOG breakfast isn't worth it, IMO. Since you already have dinner planned at BOG, you'll get to go see the inside of the castle.

The Welcome Show. It really sets the tone for our entire day. It is so happy and uplifting and really gets us ready to enjoy the magic of MK. You already have dinner at BOG, so I would definitely do the show!

I would do the welcome show. There is something, too, about walking through. The tunnel with the masses, seeing the CMs lining the street, waving. You feel like it is your special day. On my first visit to Epcot, we had a pre-rope drop ADR, and it was a strange experience... Walking in for the first time in an empty park, not really knowing where we were going, stressed we would be late. You don't want to have to hurry to make your ADR, and miss taking in the atmosphere. I have always had plenty of success getting on rides in plenty of time watching the welcome show and then heading in.

Welcome show. I wasn't a huge fan of BOG breakfast. Any chance you can book a lunch instead?

I'd say the welcome show. I found BOG breakfast expensive and over rated. I'd much rather go for lunch or dinner.

Welcome show is one of our favorite things at Disney. Wouldn't miss it.

I'd say BOG, only because I avoid RD like the plague! I don't like the huge mass of people. That said, I've never seen the welcome show so I don't know what I'm missing!

Another vote for welcome show. I don't know that I'd do it over eating at BOG at all, but since you have a dinner there, you will still get to experience it...I haven't been to the breakfast, but it doesn't really sound that good to me. I think the welcome show and dinner (or lunch) at lunch at BOG is ideal combo.

I was able to find it on YouTube under Disney Magic Kingdom Welcome show. It last 7 minutes. I would check it out. It may help you reach a decision.
