WWYD? Tony's Town Square or Crystal Palace?

We had a good experience at CP in 2009 for breakfast. For our March 2012 trip, I wasn't sure whether to include CP (this time for lunch) on our MK day. However, my DD12 INSISTED we go there. She loves the restaurant - and it is very pretty in there. The characters are really cute as far as DD is concerned. It is Pooh Bear, afterall !!!! Our DD16 is fine with it. She's not "too cool" for this. And I think by now, she knows the characters are the real charm of this whole Disney thing.

My only concern was the food - is it good??? We are paying about $30pp for this. I did post here on the Disboards asking if the food was decent, and everyone who answered said they really enjoyed it. Who can argue with so many positive opinions???

We now have an ADR at CP for lunch. I'm glad the OP made the choice to go there too. Your kids may end up enjoying it. ;)

Thanks everyone. I thought about Liberty Tree but my DD and DH don't eat pork and I understand there could be pork at a buffet but it seems a little different when they put it on the table in front of you. The bad food comments were enough to persuade me for sure. I switched it ADR to CP. I figure at a buffet everyone will find something they like. I just told the girls when they came home for lunch. They were pretty happy about it. The boys (13, 16 & 17) can deal with it ;)

Good point everyone will have a choice! :thumbsup2 I think you made a good decision b/c it's better than Tony's in many opinions. I have been curious to see if Tony's got better but sounds like, not.

Thanks goofyintoronto. That's good to know. It will be dinner. I think CP sounds like we can't miss and I'm sure that if my teenage boys don't want to meet the characters there will be plenty or people who do.

I remember going as a teen & remember feeling a little silly when the characters came up to me. But then laughing b/c well, it's fun!!! I bet you'll get a smile out of everyone! Honestly, I'm so used to the Characters now I'm like,oh yeah, Cinderella is gonna be here. I forgot. The food is my highlight! However....The teen boys will LOVE the MASS amount of food!! They can pig out!!! They WILL be thrilled w/ CP!!!

Not sure why Tony's gets such a bad rap- we ate there last week and really enjoyed it. We didn't get anything with red sauce, though. DH loved the lamb shank and I thought the steak was delicious. And the pistachio creme brulee and chocolate cake were wonderful.

We've never done CP since my kids can't stand Pooh (not sure why, I love him!) but I can only imagine walking in there with so many teenagers.

All that being said, if you can manage the time, dinner at 'Ohana at the Polynesian would be a fantastic choice for you, especially if your kids are big eaters. Just tell them not to bring any pork to your table. We thought the food there was outstanding!

You made the right decision! Tony's is the worst! CP has very good food and it's very clean....just so you know, if you don't want the characters to come to your table you can just wave them on. They'll probably just blow a kiss and move to the next table...no worries

your boys will be thrilled with the food! My 13 year old loves the food here so we go every year! Younger DS still loves the characters, but we do not spend tons of time with them. Just a quick hug or Hi-five. No autographs. My DH loves the variety of the food as well. We just wave to Pooh as he walks by and continue on eating :rotfl2:
