WWYD - Studio vs 1BR

Stay in a studio vs 1 BR knowing you need the points in 2012 for Hawaii?

  • Stick with the plan of booking a studio at BWV for the split.

  • Book a 1BR at BWV... 2012 is a while away; worry about that trip later!

  • Stick with the plan of booking a studio at BWV unless you find a 1BR strd available.

  • It's time to add on points ((LOL))!

I am having a dilemma -- we are doing a split stay so that isn't up to debate. There are 2 of us traveling and we aren't necessarily the lounge about the room for hours type of people except for evening wind down before bed.

We know we are ending our trip in a Standard View BLT studio for 5 nights.... (we have 9 booked currently) at 7 mos am going to add on a split stay at BWV for 4 days to keep our nights total to 9... what I can't decide is should I book a studio OR a 1BR for the BWV portion knowing that we have plans (yes they can change) to go to Hawaii in 2012 and we could use the points as we will need a 1BR for that trip.

Would you just stuck with studios the whole time if that means for Hawaii you will have enough points without borrowing from 2013 or borrowing very few points or would you get the bigger room for part of the trip knowing you definitely will need to bite into 2013's points? :confused3:confused3

You want to stay in a studio. I'm not telepathic but nothing about your post indicates you think it's a good idea to stay in the 1 BR.

Personally, I'd stay in a studio if we were a party of 2.

When it's only Grafxgirl and me we stay in the studios. There's no need to bump up to the 1BR unless we bring the little monsters...

I voted for a Studio as well. There's only two of you. Save those points!!

So here is option 5 .. Rent points from another party for the difference. Like that last 2 nights or something.

Right now the rental points are flooded. I have rented from 6$- 8.50 a point. One time (only 3 days out) I got a rental for 4.50$ per point.

I also would consider if renting is not out, renting the 24 points from disney to save up to 24, but cost is about 15$ a point. I feel this is an easy (NOT CHEAP) was to save up to 24 points a year. The last night use 24 of Dis points and difference of your points.

.. I am all about finding another way.. I ALSO would stress using standard room .. so much cheaper if it is available.

I would stay in the studio for just two people, but I also wouldn't do a split stay if I didnt have to! 9 nights at BLt would be great if you ask me. So much to do over there. And if Epcot is your thing, your just a monorail ride away, not having to deal with busses!!! So I know you said this part was non-negotiable, but I would stay put all 9 nights!!

I enjoy going over to the campground and bike riding, or starting at VWL and biking around the campground, (only a boat ride away) and walking to the MK. And you can pool hop on the monorail resorts, also a plus. Just a thought!

LOL there's always someone who says to not do a split stay :)

It was hubby's request and we're celebrating his bday so there's no debate on that :thumbsup2

Nothing wrong with choosing a studio for a trip that length. Especially if you are reasonably sure you had a use for extra points the following year.

Save the points for Aulani. We recently returned from staying at the Marriott at Ko Olina and Aulani will be beyond wonderful. It is worth the point frugality!

Have fun! And keep planning! :woohoo:

A studio is fine, especially for two. Save the points for Aulani. Enjoy your trip. :)

I voted for a studio because your BLT stay is in a studio and I think you said it's at the end of your trip. I would hate to go from staying in a 1BR then switch over to a studio - it would feel almost like a step down. Added to that, as others have said, there are just two of you (plenty of space in a studio) and you'll save those points for 2012.

Stick with the Studio. They are perfectly fine for 2 people over at BWV.

Definitely save the points. There's really no need to have a 1 bedroom for only 2 people.

Unless you are planning on doing a lot of cooking in the room or laundry I would stick with the studio. :thumbsup2

we usually do 1 load of laundry so not a big deal to hang out at the pool while the laundry is done.

And boy that puppy is adorable Starshine!
