Hi All -

Having major mouse flutters right now about our upcoming trip just before free dining starts next month. We've visited WDW 7 times since 2001 with DS (15) and DD(11). Stayed at WL and POR mostly.
This trip, as I have shared here, we got a great upsell offer for YC with MYW and DDP for 10 days. Looking forward to greater exploration of Epcot, SAB, and being at a resort we could not normally afford.
Cons - not exactly cherishing a walk to Epcot in the heat, but we can easily do the launch. But now this Food Court(or lack of one!) issue has come to my attention, and I am thinking over my family's habits, use of CS, mugs, etc., in past visits. I am thinking of DS and his Asperger's., too...
Would you ever switch a resort just because of lack of CS variety or a Food Court? Is BW any better?
And.. at this point - what might they even OFFER, given that I "happened" to get that great deal? Is it written in stone now? Am I being ridiculous? WWYD???

TIA my friends!!! I usually try to keep a very cool head....lol - I am not this time!!

While YC itself doesn't have a CS, you can walk through the lobby to BC and go to the Marketplace. The selections aren't as numerous as a food court, but they are yummy (especially the gelato :thumbsup2 ). You also have Beaches and Cream and even though it's classified as a TS for the DDP, it looks like an old-fashioned ice cream parlor, not an upscale sit-down kind of place (even though there is seating). :goodvibes
If you're willing to walk to the Dolphin next door (or take the launch), there's Picabu's, a CS cafeteria-type of place with really good food. As far as BW, there isn't a really decent CS place with seating (other than the outdoor tables) :sad2: . (It's one of our "homes" and IMO, that's the one negative aspect of the place :sad1: )

You should probably just call and see if there's even anything else available. Then, if there is a resort you would be interested in, explain the situation to the CM helping you and see what they can do.

We have spent the past couple July 4ths at the YC. The walk to EPCOT is really not bad. We cheat and do most of it thru the resort - YC to BC and from there it's just a couple minutes and you can go ac to ac in the park pretty much.

What we do is sleep in, head to the BC Market place for a quickie bfast (delicious yogurt parfaits and baked goodies - also some hot bfast sandwiches) swim and relax and enjoy the day - there is Beaches and Cream and also Hurricane Hannah's Grill right near the pool area. It would cloud over in the afternoon, rain & while it did we'd change and relax and cool down in our room. Then we'd hoof it over to Epcot. It was a perfect plan for us and we avoided most of the heat that way.

I would not give up that great upsell deal you had. That was a once in a lifetime deal. :wizard: The YC also has quickie bfast area near the lounge in the morning - or the Galley for a sitdown bfast & that's casual. There is a little store in YC that also sells soda/water and snack items. There are fridges in the rooms. The BW is a fun area and your kids will probably really enjoy it. I wouldn't switch to BW for the CS issue, though. I think you'll find more variety btwn YC and BC and you can walk to BW S/D.

Go and enjoy the YC!! Take advantage of this awesome offer!! During our July trips we found to sleep in, stay in the parks late - till closing - we avoided the heat and had lots of rides that were walkons. I think the up to the parks early mentality is nuts on vacation and it seems that is what most people do, so we got really lucky with our late nt hours.

HAVE fun!!! You will really love the YC.

We've been to YC in July for the last two years and the walk to EPCOT is not bad as long as you go first thing in the morning or around dinner time. We do it with three small kids. Of course if its too hot just take the launch.

We ordered from garden grocer for breakfast items in the room and used the BC Marketplace also. Hurricane Hannah's offers a lot of options for cs lunches - burgers, hot dogs, chicken strips, turkey sandwiches, fries etc.

One of my older son's has Asperger's also. I don't think YC will give him any problems. Definitely enjoy the upsell offer - you will love YC and SAB!!!

Whew!

Thanks for all the reassuring replies, guys! Lives4Disney - we are also late-goers - just the way our family works. You make it all sound so simple - TY!!!
And Disney Mom and Granny - likewise - I feel so much better now! I also went back and studied the maps more carefully - so that helped, too!!!

Sometimes TOO much DIS board reading can be hazardous...

Time to turn my thoughts to other aspects of our planning...:cloud9:

BW would not improve the lack of CS, it is the only drawback in my opinion of all the Epcot resorts. And I know many will say well Epcot is available but that is not an easy option when it is hot and crowded, so I understand your concerns.

Here is the Beach Club Marketplace menu and they do have good selections, it is just the lack of roomy sitting that bothered me.

I would say take the rate though as it probably won't happen again.

I love the Yacht Club and have ALWAYS wanted to stay there. I wouldn't switch for the 2 reasons you listed.

Have a great time and be sure to post pics when you get back!!!

You will love the YC. :) Ya, too much reading on the DIs can have you second guessing yourself, but really the YC is beautiful and does have so much to offer. You won't go hungry!!!:rotfl:

As Sammie said, there isn't really seating in the BC Marketplace....we'd buy our bfast and carry it outside (they have drink holders and large shopping bags) and eat at an umbrella table near Beaches and Cream. It was so pretty there and a nice way to start the day.

Enjoy - you got a fabulous deal - go with it!!:wizard:
