I have mixed feelings on split stays - I think once my kiddo is a little older we’d like it but at this stage it’s challenging.

We did it with a 5-year-old and it was easy.

We moved from BLT to BWV so that day we did Epcot and instead of heading back to BLT after our 3pm meal at Epcot we just headed to BWV

As much as I love to enable DVC purchases, I don’t see the value of buying a small BWV contract right now. Small contracts will inevitably go for more than they’re worth and it’ll take some time to find one in your price range/UY/not stripped, dwindling it’s worth even more, we are already at 16yrs of use if you can get 2025pts.

But I’m also not sure swapping your points for CCV is any better. If you really only want to stay at BWV during spring break, I’m not sure you’ll be satisfied trying for BWV at 7mo. Getting 8 days in a row, even PG, will probably be challenging.

If you don’t mind being “stuck” at your home resort (which I know you do love and have your FW there), then selling BWV and instead buying CCV could just be a good opportunity to get out of a 2042 resort while it still has value and be content if you occasionally get to use those points at Boardwalk.

But also, if your BWV contract is solely for those spring trips, then the third solution is to just borrow when you have to. It’ll take a couple years before you’ll run out of borrowing power and either you skip a spring trip that year to replenish your BWV pts, stay less days a few years, use other points to stay somewhere else (or try for BWV at 7mos), and use OTUP to help fill the gap. And you’ll likely get a SV stay once in a while anyway, so the amount you will be borrowing may not be as bad over the years

I hear you on the 7 month availability though - I used my CCV points at BWV last year for spring break and was able to get 8 nights P/G but you’re right that there’s no guarantee.

I wouldn’t be heartbroken to stay at CCV though as @VGCgroupie pointed out, studio availability is tight there also (tbh I completely blanked on that since we have a FW).

If you are not traveling during Fall Frenzy, I think the risk of not getting something in P/G is modest. If you don't get it right away, there is always the wait list, and I've had decent luck with that.

I think if it were me, I'd add on a 50-pointer (or maybe a bit more) at CCV. If over time you realize it is not getting you what you want, then decide whether or not you want to sell the BWV and replace it. Don't solve a problem you don't have yet.

I don’t think studio availability at CCV is as bad outside of the holiday season so you’re probably fine to book your trip at 11mos and then attempt to switch at 7.

And we are very much borrowers so I can’t sympathize with the pain of borrowing haha like 2/3 of our points for next year were borrowed for this past years trips. Not the norm to use that much, but it unintentionally worked out since we won’t be able to go as often this next year so it should mostly even out but yeah we’re always going to be in borrow mode. I will say I don’t love borrowing from certain home resorts because we like to stay in a couple of them every year if we can and don’t love the idea of using those points for other trips/resorts lol

I strongly dislike borrowing. For me it’s because it’s a final transaction (I wish that would change) If I need to cancel those points are now stuck in the current UY.

If that was our case, then I definitely would stay away from borrowing as well. We like to get things locked in early: room, flights, excursions/offsite activities, dining, etc…

I also like the MK vs EPCOT/HS split stays. If you can get 3-4 nights in a room then it’s worthwhile. I wouldn’t do just a night or two though.
