In late August, my husband and I closed on a resale contract at Boulder Ridge. We are now looking to add on about 30 points direct through Disney. We were added to a waitlist for BWV and have also requested that our guide keep checking for BCV since there is no official waitlist. Today, we got a call that the BWV points are available. Would you keep waiting for BCV (our first choice) or take the BWV points? I don't want to keep waiting for something that's unrealistic, but if it's a real possibility that the BCV may become available soon, I don't want to give up yet. I keep seeing BCV resale contracts popping up with the use year I'm looking for, but without a waitlist, Disney doesn't know to exercise ROFR since someone is waiting to purchase directly.

What would you do?

Why do you want BCV? We own both but prefer BWV. We enjoy the YC/BC area but not so much the BCV building.

We also prefer BWV. Cheap point standard room, Boardwalk view rooms, and usually a more adult clientele. To each their own though.

We like the decor/theme better and also that it's a bit closer to Epcot. We've never stayed in the villas, though.

I wouldn't give up yet. If Beach Club is your first choice I would hold out a few more months.

You really can't go wrong with Beach Club or Boardwalk. Both resorts have their pros and cons, which are really an individual preference. I was all about Beach Club until I had the opportunity to stay at Boardwalk and loved BWV as well.
I would suggest to wait a little longer if you have your heart set on Beach Club, but keep Boardwalk as an option if nothing comes up in the next few months (or before you need the points to plan a trip).

To me the main advantage of Boardwalk is actually being on the Boardwalk. Proximity to Epcot is similar but as I recall BWV is closer to DHS. I think most folks tend to prefer BCV due to resort size and/or SAB. But I wouldn't complain if I had to stay at either one to be honest.

That's a good point about being closer to DHS. The only time we stayed at the Boardwalk was for a very short trip to only Epcot and Disney Springs, so we never did the DHS walk. About how long does is take (moderate pace)?

It has been almost 2 years since we last stayed at BWV but if memory serves it was ~15-20 minute walk. Maybe closer to 20.

I'd wait for BCV. Always remember the official mathematical formula: BCV = BWV + SAB.

We weren't that impressed with SAB (I know we're probably the only ones!), so this really doesn't affect our decision. Although the creepy clown at Boardwalk doesn't win any points either!

Based on your initial post, I'd say wait for BCV vs buying BWV since it's your first choice. However, since you're already a DVC member, I'd actually hold off, try them both and make the decision from there.

For our family, BWV is our second choice to book behind our home resort, no interest in BCV, been twice and it just doesn't work for us.

The boat from Disney studios stops at Beachclub before boardwalk so the ride is shorter. But its about the same distance if you want to get off at boardwalk to get off at swan dolphin and walk across the bridge which is shorter than Beach Club. We are splitting hairs, I think it depends on what pool you like. They are all good, close to the Epcot beers of the world walk. We like this area much more than the monorail loop

BCV:

1. SAB
2. Better parking
3. Shorter hallways.

Just to be devil's advocate, because I am on the fence with both, having stayed at both:

BWV:

1. Boardwalk (including Ample Hills >> Beaches and Cream)
2. Shorter walk to HS (we did it in August from BCV, it was 15-20 minutes or maybe less)
3. different view rooms - standard for lower points, and BWV

You aren't alone. We tried SAB once, didn't like it.

I'll ask a different question - 30 points at a different resort is going to be a small contract to be able to book anything. And you can't use your other points over at BCV/BWV until the 7 month window opens - how are you planning on using your points? If you want BWV for standard view studios during F&W, they are hard to get, and you might as well wait for BCV.
