I haven't read the other responses so I wouldn't be swayed by other people's opinions. I apologize if this was said upthread:Let's say your spouse is awaiting test results for a medical issue that is severely life threatening. The doctor's office calls your home, but your spouse is at work...in a meeting all day at the office. Of course the doctor won't tell you anything...so what do you do? Do you see if you can get the secretary or the boss to pull him from the meeting for a moment, or do you sweat it out and wait to see if they call you during their lunch break 3 hours from now? He/she isn't able to check his/her email during the meeting, and doesn't have their cell phone on them. For the sake of the discussion, let us also say that your spouse (and you) has been a nervous wreck waiting for the results.
So...what do you do?![]()
Unless the call from the doctor's office is along the lines of, "We have a doner kidney right now. Get down here", I leave a message on his cell or office VM and my DH alone calls the Dr's office back when he's out of the meeting. Test results aren't going to be any different three hours from now than they are now and the only reason I'd be a nervous wreck would be if I made myself a nervous wreck over the results.
