WWYD-8 days no hopping, or 5 day hoppers.

Coworker and family (10 plus folks) are heading down sat to sat in May.

Offsite house. :(

Nobody has ever been there.

They found an Expedia deal 5 day hoppers $341 with tax.

Pointed out from UT an 8 day pass (no hopping) is $345.

I'm pushing for 8 so they get more done, they may go offsite a bit here and there, but mostly WDW. Plus they could return for Fantasmic or Wishes.

Any advice?

I'd definitely go with the 8 day with no park hopper. My wife, three kids and I are taking our second Disney trip together in August and we are going with the 7 day no hopper ticket. Last time we got a 6 day with hopper and only 'hopped' twice. In my opinion, it wasn't worth it.....more days would have been better!

Definitely would go with 8 days no hopping. For first-timers especially. Hopping can be overwhelming for first time visitors, or it was for me anyway. My first time to park hop was also my last. Maybe only because I am a routine kind of girl and hopping made me feel a little too blasé.

Depends on what they plan to do...if they have foodie types with them who want to eat at specific places, other than at the park they're in that day, then the hoppers might be needed. I've found myself wishing I had hoppers, due to the disproportionate amount of awesome places to eat in EPCOT! Otherwise though, I'd say forget hoppers for first time visitors. There's just SO much to do, there's no reason to hop. I'd definitely lean toward the extra days in that case.

I love PH - never travel to the World without them. But for your friends..with a large group and their first trip - I would definitely do 8 days and skip the PH. For first timers, trying to hop around for 5 days, it might be more running around and stress for them. I would definitely do the 8 days - plenty of time to visit each Park twice and at their pace. :)

As of now Off site guests have to book FPP in the park, so you can't use the strategy of going to one park in the morning, and using your FPP in the second park. This would work if you were on site.
I would do the non park hoppers and do one park a day. Unless you like to go to Epcot for dinner and evening strolling, like I do!

I agree they should get the 8-day Base ticket. Most newbies don't see a use for park hoppers, so limited value there. Maybe they don't need all 8 days, but at 10.65/day, it's not a big loss if they only visit the parks for 7 days. With 8 days they can escape for breaks, weather, rides down, and on another day make-up for lost time or stuff they didn't get a chance to see/ride earlier.

The only thing is they are staying offsite are they going to use the pass and want to go back 8 days? However I think the no hop option is more appealing due to fP plus and all. Are they doing all 4 parks also, I think you need 2 days for MK. One day for DHS. One day for AK and at least a day and a half for Epcot. But everyone has there own preferences and are they doing Universal or other things while they are there?

Here's another way to look at it:

To upgrade each 8 day ticket with park hopper would be ~$63 per ticket. To upgrade each 5 day ticket to 8 days would be ~$30 per ticket. Current crazy ticket upgrading policy change rumor aside anyhow.

Wow thanks for the quick responses. Yea I think 8 as well.

But now you have me thinking-if they pay $342 for a 5 day hopper, can the add days at $10 per day?

How about this curve ball, I reserved a BCV studio for him and his wife so they can stay one extra night after everyone leaves. And also to experience SAB and just onsite in general.

Be a shame to not walk into EPCOT right there.

Worst case-could they add one more day for themselves, as long is it's by day 4 correct? And have a couple days (up to 14 maybe) to use it? And would it only be $10?

It does say you can upgrade: Maybe it is only $10 additional days.

Terms and conditions
All activities are at users' own risk. Tickets booked without the non-expiry option are only valid for 14 days after the first day of use, while tickets booked with the non-expiry option do not expire. All tickets and options are non-transferable. You may upgrade your ticket at the admission gate of any Walt Disney World® Resort theme park.

You can add days up 'til park close where you are using your last ticket admission. Disney policy now regarding third party tickets is, you enter a park FIRST before doing your upgrade. By doing that, the discounted tickets are "bridged" to full gate price credit when calculating the upgrade cost. At that point, adding the one-day upgrade will cost 10.65.

8 days no hopper is the winner here. They can take more time to enjoy the parks without rushing through them, and skip the complication of hopping for a first time visitor.
