WWOHP-getting there late morning?

We'll be flying into Orlando on Thursday, Aug 18, arriving around 10am. DS10 and I plan to take a cab straight over to Universal IoA, as we both want the chance to see WWoHP before heading over to WDW on Friday.

I've read about the park being "at capacity" and people not getting in? Could this happen? Are we doomed to go to IoA and not get to experience HP at all?

2nd question: What's up with the single rider lines I'm hearing about? It sounds like the way to go if it really cuts the wait time in half. If I went first, then waited afterward for DS10, would that be doable? What's the disadvantage aside from not experiencing the ride right next to each other? DS is pretty mature and would be OK. Definitely looking to manage wait times since we won't be getting there until late morning.

Thanks!
Amanda

1st Answer. The park itself (IoA) will not be at capacity, but it is possible that WWoHP will be. I'm sure you'd still be able to get in though, as when WWoHP is at capacity, Universal institutes a timed entry ticket system that allows you to come back at a particular time with no waiting to enter. Think of this system as similar to Disney's Fastpass, if you are familiar with it. The difference is this "Fastpass" is to enter the WWoHP area, not to see any particular attraction.

2nd Answer. Single rider is a great way to attack long lines if you're willing to do it. Many people don't utilize it simply because they want to ride with their party. On some rides that is understandable, but on others (such as Forbidden Journey) it really doesn't matter since you can't see your ridemates anyway. SR is not at every attraction and on those it is, is not always open. Still, I love using it to cut down waits.

Just be aware that everyone rushes to WWOHP first thing in the morning. The onsite and partner hotel guests are allowed in an hour ahead of park opening, then, all the day guests arrive, so you will be arriving at a peak time. We went during a crowded day and a still had good time was had by all. Just be prepared to wait. Some schools will already have started by Aug. 18, so maybe the summer crowds will start to die down by then.

If you are staying all day, maybe save WWoHP for later that evening when it tends to slow down....or so I've heard :D

Just be aware that there is a slight chance that you and your son could end up getting off the ride at different levels. If by some small chance one of you ends up with a handicapped rider, that car will let riders off on a different floor.

My advice would be to ride together the first time and pick a spot to meet up for subsequent rides using the single rider line.

Thanks for all the responses/advice.

Question regarding FJ--if we do go in the singles line and end up on different floors, is there a "main exit" or area right outside that we could meet at? I'm not at all familiar with the ride, or anything about Universal Studios for that matter.

thanks!

Everyone exits through Filch's Emporium regardless. If by chance one of you goes to the other area to exit the vehicle, the TMs should show you the way.

If it is your first time, I cannot urge a person enough to NOT take the Single Rider line, unless you have ridden before. This queue is world class and you're doing yourself a major non-favor by skipping it.

Thanks all, sounds like we have a game plan! :thumbsup2 I'll keep in mind that that longer line may be more interesting--we could always go back through later in the evening if the line dies down.

I guarantee it is. :thumbsup2
