I have been told we should do this in the afternoon instead of 9am but it goes against all my Disney Park training. I know resort guests will already be in line but won't Forbidden Journey be a 90 minute wait in the afternoon when all the crowds arrive? We have EP for all other rides but really want to do this one. We are headed there on Sunday.

You don't mean "afternoon". You mean "in the last hour of park operation." My family's experience over President's Week '11 was that the last hour was often pretty good for everything with the infrequent exception of Ollivander's.

I would wait until later in the day since hopefully the morning crowds should be thinning out by then.

To clarify, I do mean around 2pm. So 9am or 2 pm. We won't be there at 9pm. I think I'm hearing 9am is better?

Yesterday at 11 am the wait time was 120 minutes.

Yesterday at 2 pm the wait time was 90 minutes and it stayed that way until we left the park at 5. Not sure about close to closing time.

I've been thinking about doing WWoHP in the afternoon/evening, but our trip is in September and I think IoA closes earlier in the evening then than it does in the summer. I swear I have seen historical IoA hours for September 2011 but I haven't been able to find them again, and Universal hasn't posted park hours for this year past June.

If IoA closes early in the evening, we might not have time to go there and experience all the WWoHP stuff in the afternoon/evening. Also, the earlier it closes, I assume the more crowded it will be because not as many people who've been there since opening will be tired and they won't have left yet. Does anybody know how late the park tends to be open in early to mid-September?

IOA hours for September are usually 9-7 or 9-8 depending on the day.

to the op, i hear you on that question...........

i stay onsite and go yearly.

i still go to parry hotter-ville for early entry.
and when i over sleep, i still go to that part of the park.

i only do the FJ ride there once it is about 9ish.
i walk thru and see what shops don't have 10,000 peeps in there in case i want to peruse that place.

since you only have two time options of 9 and 2, try for 9 first thing.
you will have long waits but it is a better gamble of going then if you have to leave in the early afternoon.

if you go at 2:00, and the lines are horrendous, you won't get much done if you are on a time schedule to leave the parks soon after.

go at 9 and just wait it out if this is the main reason you want to go to ioa.

the hotel guests do go for the early option hour for parry hotter.
at 9, the park opens to all guests.

try to be in the entrance line by 8:30 so your wait to get into the park is not longer.
if you arrive at the park at 9, it will cut into your time a lot.

going thru city walk to the entrance of ioa, could take you up to 15 minutes.
then the wait in the entrance line/ticket entrance.
a bit of a walk thru crowds to get to the back of the park then.

go early as you can and prevent additional waits.
