WSWD? Red light ticket in Cocoa Beach

Sully... WSWD = What Should We Do :)

Spaddy... I was wondering the same thing... until I was able to get far enough into the infraction system to see video of us making the turn! They have both stills and motion video evidence you can view online. We can see the brake lights come on, and we slowed adequately enough that the turn did not put anyone in danger, but it was not a full stop by any means.

We're counting this as a major lesson learned.

Thanks! Lesson learned here as well!

Ditto:thumbsup2 Thanks a bunch:grouphug:
We're going to be driving down there too in a few weeks and this will really help convince my DH to be careful:rolleyes1

These are becoming increasingly popular here in Florida. What a lot of cities like to do is ticket you for a right turn on red without coming to a full and complete stop behind the white line, what my husband likes to call a California rolling right turn-- we got one of these in the mail and he wasn't too happy!

yes, they are turning up everywhere!!!!:scared1:

People that don't come to a complete stop before making a right hand turn is one of my major pet peeves. I have seen too many accidents in our area because of this practice.

I just didn't realize that the had video set up to catch people doing that -- it's not available in our area yet.

My husband received one of this up in Chicago and tried to get proof from the company and from the city and no one would send him anything. They stated he ran a red light, which he didn't remember ever doing. He ended up going back and forth with the car company to never get proof or even a copy of the ticket. Since he couldn't get any proof, he had to pay it.

I wish you luck with Hertz getting this resolved.

That fine is a bargain, the base fine for running traffic light is $351 in California.
Plus in California the fine isn't the issue, it is the added costs. They add a minimum of $91 to any ticket PLUS 20% of the base fine. So that ticket would cost you $501 here.
And here, to get a ticket they have to send you a copy showing the car in the intersection, showing the license plate, and the driver's face must be visable. Actually, they don't mail those out anymore, you have to look them up on their website if you want to see the actually photo.
