Is the Rose and Crown the only sit-down restaurant that offers a view of the Rose and Crown? I know that there is no guarantee of a patio seat there. How is the food there? If we might not get a patio seat, I want to make sure the food is good enough to warrant going. Thanks for any input.

Rose & Crown is the only sit down restaurant that has a view. You are correct in that you are not guaranteed a patio table. As a matter of fact, you can't even request it when you check in anymore. I have never eaten there before, but it's just lack of opportunity. Many people on the DIS like the food there.

The deal is, a lot of people try and book here to try and get that elusive Illuminations seat. You might be better off booking a dinner a little earlier inthe evening at a place where you know you will like the food and then grabbing a spot somewhere around WS. Especially if you aren't sure if you like the food at R&C. Be sure to check out the menu on wdwig.com

Well not a fancy restaurant in fact its counter service but it has a great view of illuminations if you get there early enough - what restaurant do I speak of ? The fast food Mexico restaurant has seating on the WS lagoon and is cheap and food is pretty good - fear not if you don't get a seat - as you look at the counter service restaurant at the seating at the very far right just inside their seating area there is room after the last table for 4-6 persons to stand - we did this not a soul was standing there 40 minutes before Illuminations started on June 23rd of this year - it was the 2nd best view we ever had - 1st being our Illuminations cruises!
:D

ok this is a big secret, between us dissers........

beside the rose and crown (seems to be inside the rose and crown to passers by) is a nice patio, with an awesome view. grab a table there and send someone to go get whatever food you'd like. We've been unimpressed with three meals at R&C, but illuminations has been worth it every time.
