Wrong names for rides you or people you know INSIST on calling them

I think that EVERYONE call them the teacups. And we call it the Golf Ball.

My just-turned 4 year old's list of attractions:

The Teacup Ride
The Ghost Ride (HM)
The Pirate Ride (POTC)
The Funny Glasses Movie (Mickey's Philharmagic)
The Funny Glasses Movie with the bubbles (Muppet Vision 3-D)
The Scary Dinosaur Ride (Dinosaur - no, he hasn't been on it)
The Not Scary Dinosaur Ride (Triceratops Spin)
The Zip-a-dee-doo-dah Ride (Splash Mountain)
The Choo-choo train roller coaster (what we call The Runaway Train - BTMRR)
Space Mountain (the People Mover/TTA - He calls it that because it goes thought Space Mtn).
The Horsie Ride (the Carousel)
The "Following the Leader" Ride (Jungle Cruise - those of you with the 'Disneyland Fun' sing-a-long will know why this is)

These names have worked their way into our regular vocabulary.

we had a couple in front us just stop right inside the MK and wonder where they got their "E" tickets from their pass! We were about to explain when they confronted a CM about the "error" Disney made since they didn't get their "E" tickets!

LOL! I guess they need to go to WDW a little more frequently, say at least once a decade!

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who calls Magic Kingdom WDW - and who refers to the "big golf ball." :-) And that quite a few people constantly mix up Disneyland/Disneyworld. If it turns out the answer to my fan fiction question means a character will have to have referred to Disneyworld as Disneyland, at least that will seem quite normal. (Though it will be good to make reference to her confusion in the story.)

I also say "teacups" I hate it when people say "so are you going to Disneyland again?" Never been there people its Walt Disney World, Dinseyland is in California, Disney World is in Florida!!!!!! :earseek:

That one drives me crazy too!! They just don't get it. :flower1:

Saw one earlier poster who refers to the Tower of Terror as the Tower of Tower. This is what we call it, since that's what DD (now 10) called it on our first trip, when she was four.

This isn't a ride but it drives me nuts when people refer to the "ranchos" section of Coronado Springs as "rancheros." Or when people say they are staying at the "Animal Kingdom" instead of the "Animal Kingdom Lodge." I always imagine them sleeping under the Tree Of Life instead of a hotel room. :smooth:

I call the Tomorrowland Transit Authority the "Wedway People Mover"!

I also am guilty of using the term 'teacups'!

:earboy2:

Ditto on both, although I call the TTA Wedway....it will always be the wedway to me!

It is the "The Disney-MGM Studios" or just The Studios, MGM is Metro Goldwyn Myer (sp?) the film company, so to just say MGM is not "proper"... But that is what we call it ;)

I havn't read through this entire thread yet so it might have been mentioned.

But even the signs on the Disney buses read MGM not Studios.

I am guilty of still calling teh magic kingdom "Disney World" My 5year old corrects me.

Speaking of my 5 year old. She calls Philharmagic "Donald Duck's Butt" The whole family has started calling it that now. :daisy:

Too funny!!!!!!!

Honestly people it is Disneyland Resort or if talking about the park Disneyland Park.

You had ought to hear all of the name's Disney's California Adventure gets called.

We call Mission Space Mission Spew. DW says if she ever sees Gary Sinise she is going to slap him.

I always say teacups, golf ball (for spaceship earth), i know i've said tower of horror a couple of times but i think that is just because it scares me to death. i seriously have chest pains after getting off that ride.

We refer to the restroom as the "porcelain ride".

I think this is the funniest one I've heard yet!! My family will get a big kick out of it. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

We started calling it "The Falling Box" on purpose last year because my 3.5 yo was a bit frightened of elevators and I didn't want her to think of it as an elevator!

Now she calls it the Tower of Terror and has ridden it (and is not afraid of elevators). Funny what a year does :)

The PEOPLE MOVER! I think it's called the Tomorrowland Transit Authority or something? My family calls it the people mover.

I'm not sure why, actually... >.>

It's one of our favorite rides in MK.

PEOPLE MOVER HERE TOO!!! I HAVE NO CLUE WHY, ALL I KNOW IS THATS WHAT WE HAVE BEEN CALLING IT FOR AS LONG AS I CAN REMEMBER!!!

....I call it the Wedway People Mover!
