Wrong name on rental reservation?

A friend of my recently rented points from a DVC member, however the DVC owner mispelled her last name (started the name with a "B" instead of a "v"), so she is getting worried about what will happen when she goes to check in. She has been trying to get a hold of the renter, but no luck so far. She does have a written contract about the points rental. Anyone have any idea is she should be worried about check-in with her name spelled incorrectly?(It is the first letter, so it looks kind of like a differenct name).

Any advice would be appreciated!

It likely will not be a problem as long as it is a simpoe misspelling, and the address on the photo ID matches. Be sure to have the printed reservation at check-in so they can find the reservation, as a name search wouldn't work.

It is best if the owner corrects it for them prior to arrival at the resort.

I would like to suggest you friend keep trying to contact the DVC owner, right up to departure. Save all of these (or any contact emails). If there is a problem at WDW and your friend has to pay for a room, then they will need evidence of the lack of contact should the dispute get nasty. It is always best to log everything and keep records to ensure your own financial safety.

Is the misspelling on the DVC confirmation letter, or on something the owner your friend is renting from created? The first thing I'd do is check to see if the misspelling is in the actual Disney reservation system.

As a renter, your friend cannot call DVC Member Services. However, with the confirmation number, you can see certain details about the reservation online. Try the web site www.mydisneyreservation.com/dvc and enter confirmation number, last name, resort, and check-in date.

You'll know right away if it's correct or not by the name it finds the reservation under. Once the page loads, you can also click the "view itinerary details" link to see the exact names that have been booked on the reservation.

If it really is misspelled, I agree with previous posters. Continue to attempt to contact the owner, and have them fix the problem with Member Services.

It won't be an issue. Saying the letters "B" and "V" sound the same over the phone. This sort of thing happens a lot, which is why the CM is supposed to spell everything out associating each letter with a word (or Disney character ;))

But Disney won't get involved in a dispute between an owner and a non-owner. If DVC doesn't allow them to check in with the reservation misspelling, they will have to get a room on rack rate somewhere in WDW. Disney won't just give them a free room at any DVC or other resort.

While it'd be best to get it corrected for simplicity, it won't be a problem for a simple and obvious misspelling. No reason to worry about being turned away in that situation.

The name was changed to the correct one today! All is good, thanks for all your help.
