writing own wedding vows

Hi

We are writing our own wedding vows, does anybody know how you go about this. Rev. Kevin Knox is marrying us and I know that he provides this service. Do we need to speak to him to find out how long the vows should be etc?

Has anybody written their own vow with Rev Kevin Knox.

DH and I wrote our own vows... sorta. We ended up not doing them because I'm a cryer and I didn't think I could do it. I barely choked through the vows as it was.

I think your vows should fit your personality so it's tough to give someone advice on what to write. DH and I are kinda nutty and we are total pop culture junkies. The vows I wrote were pieced together Disney song lyrics and the vows DH wrote were pieced together TV theme songs....
What would do baby without us..... yea we are weird!

When you contact Rev. Kevin, he will send you a packet of information. In the packet there are two full ceremony vows (one more religious and one more secular) and several additional options for different "special" touches.

We used one of the full versions and edited it with bits a pieces from some of the other options as well as added some phrases we wanted. Rev. Kevin was very supportive of what we wanted.

You might do a google search for different vows that you can use and piece together something you like...there are certain "elements" you might want to have.

After we'd written what we wanted, I sent it via email to Rev. Kevin and he printed it out and had it for our ceremony. Typically, vows take about 15-20 minutes, maybe a little longer if you have some special readings or something (like a unity candle or sand ceremony). I'm sure Rev. Kevin will help you out with all that too.
