Wristband for kids?

For older kids, 10-12, I got a sticker on my room key that I just showed them as I went in. It was very easy! :thumbsup2
and it wouldnt come off or lose it, like the wrist bands do(I had them once)

just letting you know :rotfl:

Cant wait for my cruise! :cool1:

We were on the Magic last month and were told that any child 10 and older did not have to wear a bracelet. Although my 4 year old refused to wear one so he didn't have any ID on him but he was with us at all times.

Just got off Saturday and I assume that is how it is. DD8 had sign out privledges and had a wristband. DD 12 did not have one. They were both in the Lab.

Not sure what use the locators would have, but if they decide to implement them fully, I hope they make them a lot smaller and better looking.

There are rare times older kids in Flounders may be taken to the club.

Kids running around unsupervised...yes.

Just watch out though...these new bands have a charge if you lose it and they can come off.

Is the "no wristband" for the 10 and up group something new? We cruised in November 2005 and had a 10yo in our group. He had a wristband even though he also had sign-out priviledges :confused3 We'll be cruising in April and my oldest will be 10, the youngest 7 ... can just imagine the hullaballoo if one has to wear the bracelet and the other doesn't
Our 8 year old on the 12/9 DD was in the lab and did have a locator (no sign in/out priv). We did see kids her age who had stickers on I think the 'key to the world" card indicating they were "junior cruiser's". If you have an older aged kid who would want a wristband I don't think that the staff would have a problem issuing them a simple printed wristband without the locator. Our 1st Disney cruise our DD was 3 and on Day 1 when we checked in the club she was a bit shy and she had a stuffed pluto with her at check in, the staff gave Pluto a printed band labeled "pluto garber" and they put it around his neck like a collar.

Bracelets are for the kids in the Club, not the lab (regardless of the sign out priviledges of the children in the lab). Sign out priviledges are indicated by the sticker placed on the lab child's KTTW. Even when you do the on-line registration you still need to check them into the children's programming either at the port or first day on the ship to get their sticker that indicates your choice for sign-in/out priviledges. If you do not do this, they can not sign themselves out (even if you said it was okay when you did your on-line registration).

DS8 was in the lab last week with sign out privs. He had a bracelet and had to tap it to the Mickey head to check in when I dropped him off. Also, with the new tracking bracelet they do not put a sticker on the card or anywhere else. The bracelet either has a N to not sign out or a Y to sign themselves out. It was up to DS to tell them to page us when he left.

Wow. Things have changed in a month's time. Sorry if I misled anyone. My info. was current as of early Nov. Looks like they are converting to the tracking bracelets for the older kids too. :confused3

Honestly, I got the impression that most of the CMs in the club do NOT know the new system very well. It took forever to get a kid signed in or out. It seems to be making things more difficult, not better.

Our DD is 6 and she hates the bracelets!! We always make sure that it is put on so that it comes off easily. That way she can put it on when she goes to the lab and then wehn we get her we take it off and put it away.

Is this bracelet something they keep on throughout the cruise, or do they get a new one everytime they check into the club? My DD (3.5) will be in the Club.

Yes dear,

And that is how it ended up in our luggage with a $25 charge and now we have to send it back! If they were going to do this, and REALLY do it the Disney way, not only should they have adequately trained everyone, but they should have made it FUN to wear - not a generic bracelet with a generic tracking device!

(Waltsgirl is my wife, and I am not Walt - go figure)
