Wrapping presents....

I wrap presents for extended family and friends almost straight away and put them under the tree.

Santa wraps all of his presents and places them under the tree on Christmas Eve
(tonight here). He also wraps stocking gifts but not the candy/food. He leaves that on their end of beds.
We don't do individual presents for each other here atm.

I don't mind wrapping but I'm a bit rubbish at it. The Santa that visits here is also a bit rubbish at it :D

Christmas is my sister and me; she comes from out of town, and I have a small tree that sits on a table; we don't put out packages until Christmas Eve. I do most of my wrapping late in the game and all at once. Not because I hate it; it's a fun part of Christmas. I take a weekend afternoon, clear off the table, get out my supplies, put on some Christmas music and go at it. I did most of mine a couple of weekends ago; I was organized early this time. I just finished up on the 22nd though; I had to wait for the UPS man on one last thing.

Merry Christmas to All, and I hope Santa is good to you.

I usually wrap the weekend before Christmas. Dh will take the boys to the movies or to the YMCA to swim to get them out of the house.

Santa brings one gift each for the boys, and they are not wrapped.

Stocking stuffers are not wrapped.

I love wrapping and tend to do it in batches. Some packages get hidden until Christmas Eve, but some go under the tree as soon as they are wrapped, because I love to see the pile grow. Stocking stuffers are generally unwrapped, and Santa gifts have gone either way - generally wrapped, but most years there seems to be one highlighted item unwrapped.

I wrap as I go and everything is wrapped. I also wrap stocking stuffers. When the kids were little, I used to put their stockings in their room when they were asleep on Christmas Eve and tell them they could open everything in their stockings on Christmas morning when they woke up. It kept them busy and let us sleep a little longer. I got the idea from someone here.

I start buying right after Christmas, so I don't wrap as I go.
I usually start wrapping in late Nov......wrap, tag (keep a list of what I have already bought) and stack in my closet.
Then ribbon and bow.

Gift bags are a godsend to me. I hate wrapping gifts and suck at it. I'll gladly pay (donation to a charity) to have gifts wrapped for me.

Many years ago, my mother would elaborately wrap gifts, with all kinds of fancy bows and bells and whistles, then get upset because the recipients didn't appreciate it. A "thank you" for the gift wasn't enough; you had to oooh and aaah over the wrapping. She finally gave up.

Gift bags all the way!! Why waste money on paper that will be ripped off in two seconds and thrown away? Hardly anybody cares about how pretty the wrappings and ribbons and bows may be.

I did all gift bags this year for the first time. Nice and easy. :)

I wrap all at once. I don't enjoy it like I did years ago, but I think it's because I have a lot more gifts to wrap now that I have children and nieces and nephews.
Santa gifts are not wrapped, neither are stocking stuffers.
For the last couple of years I have been using an app called Santa's Bag to keep track of the gifts I buy. You can even show the status of the gift as wrapped and note where it was purchased and add things as ideas. It also helps me stay on budget as that is a feature too, if you choose to use it.
Our Christmas gifts don't go under the tree until after dinner on Christmas Eve.

I usually wrap in two or three sessions a week or two before the big day. I try to be done before the kids go on break but that never happens. I've developed a system over the years where I organize the gifts in sets of three (three kids), choose a paper, wrap a gift for each kid then choose the next and wrap for each kid. Santa has his own paper and signature. I also put stocking stuffers in a bag for each kid so all I have to do is dump it in. They don't get wrapped. Christmas Eve gifts and gifts from others get put under the tree as I go. Santa and gifts from us get put out after they go to bed on Christmas Eve. Sometimes a large gift will be displayed unwrapped and sometimes it gets wrapped. It depends largely on the difficulty of wrapping the item.

eta: I start out putting a lot of effort into pretty ribbons and bows but by the end they're pretty basic, lol.

I really enjoy the gift wrapping. I do it all at once as soon as my shopping is done. Put on a Christmas movie or 3, pour a glass of wine, or 3, and go to it. The paper and ribbons are colour coordinated to my Christmas decorations. I only use gift bags for things that are really hard to wrap. Santa's gits come wrapped in their own special paper, and they are the only gifts that don't go under the tree till Christmas Eve night. DH wraps as he goes and will always opt for a gift bag whenever possible. But he only has to do his gifts to me.

All at once. I hate it. I'm terrible at it. Everything I wrap looks like it was wrapped by a spastic chimp.

That sounds like a great app. I am going to have to look at it. Thanks

While I start shopping before Thanksgiving, I do not start wrapping until we have the tree up (day after Thanksgiving). I do a bit at a time. Boys are grown, so it's mainly just DH and I here until Christmas day. I finished wrapping (and shopping) yesterday and everything is ready to go. When youngest DS (29) was between about 7 and 14, I would pay him to wrap my gifts. He wraps them for his wife and himself now. He's a great wrapper. Oldest DS (32) and DH had to be taught but it's still not something they are great at. I actually taught all of them, but youngest DS is more artistic and picked it right up.

Santa gifts were never wrapped in our house either. We still spend just as much on our boys (and DDIL now) as we did when they were living at home so I actually have more to wrap now than I did 20 years ago.

This is exactly what I do!

I wrap when I have most stuff bought. I make a list of what I've bought everyone as I buy. The last week I've had extra stuff tricking in and wrapped those as they came in. All gifts are in my living room waiting for bows and placement under our tree tonight. My two girls,16 and 32, put them all nice and pretty under the tree before we go to bed.
I never wrap stocking stuff and would hate it is mine were wrapped. Annoying to have to unwrap super one things over and over.

We wrap it all at once, except the stray item that may not have arrived at that point. My last order came yesterday, and I could not wait that long to start wrapping. We had Christmas today, since DH works 24 hours tomorrow.

Stocking stuff gets wrapped if it is in a box (easy to wrap) and if it is not candy.

Everything gets wrapped. Even when the kids were little, Santa wrapped everything except a bicycle.

I mostly wrap as I buy, but I do wait until around Thanksgiving to start, so I might have quite a few to do at the beginning.

We don't wrap stockings- I never even heard of anyone doing that until I read it on the DIS.

Santa used to wrap presents in different paper from the 'mom and dad' gifts when DD was young.

Gifts go under the tree as soon as they are wrapped- I like to see the pile get larger as it gets closer to Christmas.

I like wrapping, and the giftwrap has a different theme each year. This year, it is a rustic look with brown paper, burgundy and dark green snowflakes and/or stripes, and round metal rimmed gift tags. I don't do bows, as they tend to fall off or get squashed when we transport gifts to family members out of town.

When we exchanged. I wrapped everything at once.

Santa did not wrap anything.

When the kids grew-up, but still wanting stocking to do stocking, I would wrap the gifts so it would take longer and they would have more to unwrap.
