Wrapping gifts-

gift bags-Yes
tissue-No

Even if I don't use the gift bag for a gift, I'll use it as I would a regular bag.

bags ...yes if still in good shape.
tissue usually not because it gets wrinkled.

I am starting to buy cute reusuable bags....like Disney ones, and using them for gifts too.

We always re-use gift bags. Everything else gets trashed though (or burned in the wood stove).

I will reuse the tissue in the bottom of the gift bags and put fresh in the top and I will also reuse the gift bags. I like lots of tissue in the bags!

Of course! Gift bags are a wonderful way to be "green." The "old" tissue I wad up and put in the bottom of the bag, and then the tissue that shows I use new.

Dh's family reuses it all, included wrapping paper. My first Christmas with them, I tore in my first gift, ripping the paper and crushing into a ball...you could have heard a pin drop!!!! They were mortified that I didn't carefully rip the tape, fold up the wrapping paper......& carefully remove the bow :scared1: There is wrapping paper still being used that is at least 8 years old and definitely showing it's age :confused3 Even after they explained to me that they don't rip or throw away the paper, I still tore into some gifts, especially if it was obvious that the paper had already been used. It's 1/2 the fun!!!!

I do reuse gift bags and some tissue paper and I've since been known to save the really nice wrapping paper from the recycle bin...

I can't imagine anyone tossing a gift bag in the trash after one use if it "appears" new. (Bet some people here do.)

Yup. That would be me. I don't have any desire to pile more stuff in my basement than necessary, so wrap/bags/tissue goes in the recycle bin once gifts are opened. Plus, I usually go with a "theme" every year for my wrapping, so what I buy one year won't go with whatever I end up doing the next.

rarely tissue although I've kept some that was exceptional. Bags, yes indeed!! I rarely need to buy a bag. I think it's responsible, sensible and fun.

yep, re-use both, i just make sure the tag on the bag is ripped off :)

I KNEW it! :lmao:

I re-use gift bags if they look new. I do not re-use tissue paper.

I re-use bows a lot. And gift boxes if they don't get torn during the unwrapping process.

I do not reuse tissue as it is usually crumpled.

But we definitely reuse gift bags!

I have some I bought for my husband that are around 20 years old. I have a couple of bags that he uses for my gifts that are around 15 years old.

It's our tradition now to use them every year!

We also reuse tags. I buy really nice tags and keep reusing them (just to my immediate family) every year.

OP here..

The reason I asked about the bags is because I get tons of them every year and I do re-use them (I'm a teacher and I get a lot of gifts! :goodvibes).

I sometimes reuse tissue, if I was careful with it when I put the bag/box away.

I always re-use boxes, until they are no longer serviceable.

And for gift tags, I used to buy labels, but this year I cut the pictures off of my old Christmas cards and used those.

We reuse gift boxes until they literally fall apart. This year I need to try to find some boxes on clearance after Christmas as most of ours are falling apart. We threw a bunch of boxes away last year because they were so over used. :) We do not reuse wrapping paper, that is ripped up and thrown out or burned. Usually tossed because we don't like the way coated burns. :) Ribbons are tossed. Tissue paper is usually thrown out, unless it's in particularly good shape, but even then it is only reused on family. Gift bags are reused regularly in our house, I rarely buy new gift bags for anything. We have Christmas bags we've been using over and over for at least 3-4 years now. In that vein I'm starting a project, I'm buying up fabric scraps and making gift bags out of them, those are absolutely reused! :)
