I usually take a few small travel surprises (books and toys) on the plane for my kids to unwrap and play with enroute.... is this a no-no now? Will security unwrapped these items?
Anyone fly lately and have any experience with wrapped items?
When my kids were younger I used to get them each a new backpack for our summer trip. Then they'd have it for when school starts too. Anyway, I'd fill it with things like you mentioned but they couldn't look inside until we were sitting on the plane. I never wrapped anything.
Good advice everybody... thanks. I have a few of those colorful bags the Disney store uses so I'll just put the surprises in those then into the backpacks. It's amazing how Sept. 11 changed so many of the daily things we do!
I've done that before with gifts, just bring paper and tape, and wrap the gifts while sitting in the gate area. Of course, for this to work you will need an SO to keep Jr. busy elsewhere while you do it!

This isn'ta good idea. You can be randomly pulled out of line as you are boarding the plane and have you bags torn apart and searched. They will then unwrap your gifts. THey aren't very nice about the whole process. On top of that, you can't bring scissors of any type on board.
