Wrapped stocking stuffers?

I didn't read any other threads about wrapping, but how do you not wrap gifts? Everything gets wrapped here. Gifts under the tree and stocking stuffers :goodvibes

Now that you mention it, it vaires from year to year - based on time and the desire to do additional wrapping.. This year is a "no"..:santa:

Not sure what you mean. :confused3

We (mom and dad) wrap all our gifts and put them under the tree, usually a week to a few days before Christmas. Santa Claus brings each child one "big" gift and it is unwrapped, lying near/under their stocking. The things in their stockings are not wrapped, either.

Santa does not wrap any gifts. Santa comes down a chimney on Christmas Eve so his gift recipients are going to be surprised the next morning regardless. Only parents and other family members wrap gifts because those gifts are purchased ahead time and you would be spoiled as to what they are if they were sitting unwrapped under the tree for weeks beforehand. Occasionally, a gift may be labeled from 'Santa' under the tree, but this is actually just the family member gift-giver being funny and the gift is bound to be something stupid. Alternatively, if the recipient is getting something that the giver really doesn't approve of, the giver may indicate that Santa gave it so as to distance themselves from the gift (my dad's guns were always wrapped from Santa).

How do you not wrap gifts? Thinking back to the Santa gifts of my past I would ask instead how do you wrap a child's play kitchen, a 3 wheel motorbike or a large size wooden toboggan. Santa just leaves his gifts in front of the fireplace. That makes them easier to play with right away.

Santa never wrapped at our house. Stockings and Santa gifts were always unwrapped.

Santa bring each kid 3 gifts (tied in to the 3 gifts given to Jesus). He wraps those gifts in Santa Paper. I don't believe he has ever wrapped gifts that were left in the stockings. The rest of the gifts are from Mom and Dad, and they are also wrapped....unless they are huge or require so much assembly that we put them together on Christmas Eve and leave them unwrapped under the tree. We also give each child new PJ's a new book every Christmas Eve (also wrapped).

As a child my stocking stuffers were never wrapped but the Santa gifts were. So DDs stuffers were never wrapped either. Then a couple of years ago DD commented that she just loves to unwrap stuff so everything in her stocking got wrapped; chapstick, toothpaste, choc. Santa, everything. She loved it. She's 23! This year some of it will be and some wont. One of the things she is getting are the ingredients for hummus. All of those items will be indvidually wrapped. :rotfl:

Santa has always wrapped the gifts in the stockings here...except for this year. Our daughter is 15 now and we hit a little speed bump over the last couple of weeks. DH has been in and out of the hospital over the last week, so for the first year they aren't getting wrapped. As a matter of fact, it's been so crazy I felt terrible because up until today there almost wasn't anything for the stocking.

:tiptoe: Okay, then.

I'm not trying to add to any debate about wrapping vs unwrapping. I just never heard anyone say the stocking gifts were wrapped before. That surprised me.

Sorry Liberty Belle!!!!
My post was absolutely not directed to you personally! :goodvibes
That's why I mentioned the 'great debate'.
I guess I have seen too many comments re: wrapping or not here on the boards.... One post specifically mentioned how an innocent question about wrapping was a 'loaded question', like an ambush. Crazy!!!

Santa gifts - yes in a Santa specific paper
Stockings - No

Santa has his own paper here, different paper for each kid. And yes, ALL the gifts in the stockings are wrapped, in the Santa paper, except if Santa brings Hershey's kisses.

Well it's Christmas, we're all testy about one thing or another. :)

Yeah, everything in the stockings are wrapped. I think it makes it much more fun :)

Absolutely!:thumbsup2
I also think, that for us, having Santa's gifts unwrapped adds a bit to the "wow factor" when kids first come to see the presents under the tree Christmas morning. Since for the past few weeks we've already had a bunch of wrapped gifts under the tree, a few more wrapped gifts (even if they are in different paper, since we have at least 5 or 6 different papers there already) wouldn't really make a big difference.
But unwrapped gifts--you notice them right away! :)

We do. Because my mom did for me. Because my favorite part of Xmas was the actual act of unwrapping the gifts.
