Wrapped gifts in carry on luggage?

To keep my DD occupied and happy during flights, I wrap a few "presents" for her to open during the flight. Usually I wrap books, audio tapes, stickers and the like. Any guesses on whether this will be a problem as we go through enhanced security checks?

Thanks for any help.

I think I would count on them wanting them unwrapped. I know this has always been a big issue at Christmas. I think I would put the gifts into small gift bags so security could look inside then close them back up.

pre cut the wrapping paper and bring scotch tape. You can wrap them on the plane.

Wrapped gifts are a no-no. Why not buy some gift bags? Put the items in them, with a little tissue on the top. That way they can just pull up the tissue to view what's inside. Still pretty and wrapped :-)

Put the wrapping paper on the gift box in a way that the box can still be opened easily.

By the way, for those folks going/returning to other states and some countries from Hawaii, all packages must be unwrapped and opened for airport inspection by the Agiculture Dept.

last year i had all of my christmas presents in my checked and carry-on luggage unwrapped - and they weren't too careful about it either. i would say don't waste your time wrapping them before you go through security.

Although my Disney "kid" is quite a bit older. I want to make a special birthday celebration for my best friend, and it seems to be getting harder and harder!

Does anyone know if I could send a package of wrapped gifts to my resort and if they would hold them there until my stay (if the package arrived say the day before I checked in). that is of course, if I know for sure where I'm staying now that PO-FQ is closed!

Yes, all resorts will accept shipments for guests. You need to do the following:

On the outside of the box, CLEARLY write "HOLD FOR GUEST (insert the name the reservation is under), confirmation number (insert), arriving (date).

They do charge a small fee for handling the package. ($7 per box I think)

Anne-

If I send a package to Disney, they are going to charge me $7.00 per box just to "handle it" ?!?! That sounds ridiculous! Would it be any different if it definitely arrived during our stay? Then isn't it a "courtesy" or would there still be a fee?

Thanks,
Brenda

Not kidding at all. It doesn't matter when it gets there, there is a handling charge. This is common at ALL hotels, and in all honesty, Disney's charge is fairly reasonable. One of the Hilton's charged me $20 for a 2 lb air pack a couple years back!

Remember, they ARE a business. They have to pay someone in the receiving area to sign for it and get it to Bell services for storage, as well as having the space to store it. Plus once they sign for it, they are responsible for securing and safeguarding it.

I've had Four Seasons and Embassy Suites accept packages for me at no charge. Maybe it is just up to the individual hotel if and when they charge:confused:
