DS called a friend of his in Florida tonight. Looks like I'll have a few spare calls on my next bill. Eek! It didn't dawn on me, and he didn't know you need to dial a "one" before the area code. I wonder what he dialed! He apparently reached the voice mail of "Bob." :earseek:

But the clincher was when he finally reached his friend's house but the phone was busy. He told me that it was beeping. I listened to it and told him that's a busy signal. He had NO idea what a busy signal was! :earseek: He's 11 years old, and this is the first he's heard a busy signal. In FL we used to get a recording saying..."this number is busy." We didn't get busy signals down there. How strange. Ha! Thought it was kind of weird...something I never even thought about.

Wow, that FL is pretty classy, Sandy, a recording to tell you it's busy. Neat!!!!

Yes, and it even tells you that it will keep trying the number and call you back when it gets through. ;) Hmmm...wonder how much they charge for that! LOL!

Well, it use to be 50 cents a call (for the next 30 mins) now its like 95 cents,,unless of course you have the CHOICE PLAN,,then its included lol...that is SOOOO CUTE though, he did not know what the busy sound was,,I NEVER thought of that either....always in Fl,,so I hear the recording lol of course I KNOW what a busy is LOL....will be fun to ask the young ones if they know what a BUSY sounds like,,,,,,and if BOB has CALLER ID,you may make a NEW friend LOL....

Shannon...now there's a thought! :teeth:

powell...Not both at the same time I hope! Hit or miss? One type one time, the other the next?

In Indiana we get a busy signal and a recording.

Not only that but if you call someone that doesnt have an answering machine and it rings like 4 or 5 times a recording comes on telling you the party is unavailable and do you want to try to leave a voice msg. Of course leaving a msg will cost you and the person you're calling. The phone company needs to realize not everyone esp. elderly people can grab the phone in the first 4 rings.

I was always told to wait 10 rings.

I have a friend who said that when she called, there wasn't a recorder. Well, the phone has one built in! For the fun of it, I called from my cell phone while I was online. Sure enough, it rang and rang. I counted 9 times. On the 10th ring, it bumped me off line and my phone started ringing.
