We had a total blast!
We were there from April 3rd till the 8th!
We went IoA on 4th. had such a good time. I swear the Disney folks are missing the boat! Granted WDW will still be my first pick if I want the magic and the homey feeling but...This placed rocked!
We went about 5 years ago but this time it was different, the kids were older. DD could ride everything DS couldn't ride the hulk or dueling dragons. But not sure if he would have even if he could.
I totally loved Universal. We spent 3 days over there! Rode and saw everything!
I was so happy to see Jaws was there and open. I don't know why I thought it was gone or closed!
Shrek was amazing! Meeting Donkey I think was one of the highlights of my trip! So much fun! He was exactly like you would expect sounded like him, made comments! I loved the fact that he talked non stop and interacted with everyone! No rush rush get your picture and head out!
On Sat the 8th (my 17th wedding aniversary!) we sent the kids with my mom and step dad and we stayed we spent the day walking around universal then had lunch at the hard rock cafe. Then got to see HEART! in concert!
It was amazing...I will say the only neg thing I saw in our 4 days there were the people/guest for mardi gra and this concert. Just rude and a lot of drunk people! I don't know that I would have been happy if i had my kids with me. Granted we picked the worse possible place to sit. On the curb out side of the main entrance to where Heart was going to play. And then they set up a beer stand behind us. Wasn't there when we first sat down. But people wanted their beer and then it became wall to wall people behind us. People on the street tried to squeeze in and tempers started to flair....and the language. Luckily we had some very nice people around us. But down about 4 feet away...oh my I thought at one point a fist fight was going to break out between this man and women....and the language.
Then the parade finally started and that was the end of that...then we went in to hear Heart! Again great concert and all for the cover price to get in! WOW!
but needless to say behind us was some crazy lady..who was complaining about a back pack...and started to curse up a blue streak...she could hardly stand...but it was kind of funny...I didn't even realize that people were moving away from her. so about an hour into the concert I look back and there she was standing in a huge open space! Too funny.
Only other complaint would be the smoking and people walking!?!? What are they thinking!?!? This was a standing only concert no seats. This group of girls with drinks in one hand and lit smokes in another are working their way through the crowd to either find someone or move closer. I really didn't care they were nice but the one was holding her cig. out! Easily could burn someone by just bushing by them... I did have to say something like that... I don't htink she realized and then turned it into her.
Anyway....post way too long! But I just wanted to say we had a fab! Time and would definately go again!
Oh and why isn't Carl and walk around park character??!/! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I really wanted to meet him!

I'm so happy you had fun... that's what it's all about.

I didn't experience anything like that in the times I've been to Mardi Gras.. I'm not too familiar with Heart though but the acts I've gone to see (Black Eyed Peas, LL Cool J, Gavin Degraw) are extremely popular pop acts. The only problem being people trying to weasel their way closer but that happens at any open concert.

I can't wait to see who they get next year...but for now I'm just looking forward to going this Summer!

Hey, we were at the HRH, US and IoA the same days as you. Unfontunately we had to depart Saturday afternoon and head to the beach. Missed the Heart Show (we're from Seattle). My only gripe this trip was the limited hours the parks were open. Closed at 7 pm except Saturday? Strange during
a peak spring break week...oh well...
Gotta love the HRH...pool parties, x-press FOTL, and convienent walking distance to anything.
We'll be back in a year or two...again.

Our kids are 13 and 16, so it's Universal for them. They're bored of WDW and the 'mouse, now preferring the edgier rides and rock'n roll feel of US and IoA, They especially love staying the HRH.

sounds like your trip was similar to ours! We headed to the beach that night around midnight! My mom lives near the gulf coast!
Our kids are still small, 8 and 10. They loved the park. We did spend one day at between MK and Epcot. Which was a nice addition to our trip.

Mardi Gras and HHN bring out the worst in some people. glad your family had a great time exploring the parks again. which beach did you go to?

Caspersean Beach near Venice. I love that beach! It isn't the prettiest, the sand isn't white and powdery but I love to hunt sharks teeth!

And we went Northeast...Jacksonville Beach (where my brother lives) to see a show at a club owned by Lynard Skynard survivors called Free Birds. I opted to see "Little Feet" at JAX over "Heart" at U.S. We used to hit Daytona, but find JAX beach a bit nicer these days (post superbowl developement).

Glad you had a good time. Heart rocked! It was by far the best concert I've seen over there for Mardi Gras!
