Wow, we sure have had a LOT of rain lately

It seems like it has been raining (big rains too) for the past two weeks here. Interspersed with wind, hail, lightning and tornado watches and warnings. And now flood watches and warnings. River is supposed to crest on Wednesday.

Last time we had major flooding in the area was back both in '86 and the following year, '87. So called 100 year floods. Well, I guess it has been a hundred years.

Here is a CBS News video of the town next to mine, where Vince used to be a firefighter, Prospect Heights, and our town, Mt Prospect. This area is about a mile from where we live. And Des Plaines, a little more than a mile.

I am pretty confident we ourselves won't flood, but I sure am checking our drains, sump pump, backup pump and generator. More storms expected tonight.

At around 7:30AM there was a clap so loud, it made both me and my boyfriend jump up from our sleep!

I know what you mean Dan....here in my area it is just devastating.....not so much right where I am but a couple miles or so away....thankfully, we don't live by the rivers that are about 5 ft over their flood levels and we are expecting more rain tomorrow.

I have a rain guage in my yard and within an hour yesterday we got 2 1/4 inches!!!! With 75 mph winds!!!!!! We don't need anymore rain!!!!!!!


Look on www.clickondetroit.com and they should have pics........I feel so bad for some people...........I guess they have declared our county a state of emergency for it too........

NOBODY WANTS ALL THIS RAIN!!!!!!! It will take weeks to dry out!!!!

We have had the big rains here too....downpours with the thunder & lightening....no hail though...

Strange storm this morning.....to the north...over the lake...the sun was shining.....14 or so blocks to the south.....the sun was shining....

in between the sunshine.....the rain came down in HUGE drops...and very heavy....

I always thought Indy was tornado alley and had lots of rain or at least thats the way it was when I lived in IL and I move here and yesterday was our first big storm and it lasted like 20 minutes. I like storms so I wish I was back in OaK Lawn now

We have so much rain here lately. Before we left for Disney we drained all the water off the pool cover...it needs to be drained again. They are predicting more rain and the possibility of severe storms again for tomorrow night.

Chataqua Lake is actually going over its banks...I don't recall that ever happening before.

Here's where I get to point out the beauty of living in the Pacific Northwest. Yes, it rains a lot...but I'd rather have it in small doses everyday than some of the horrible storms going on across the country. Good luck to everyone trying to dry out!!!

Sure has been a lot of crazy weather recently.....flooding.....tornados.....unusual heat waves..............Heck, if you could the cicada invasion, it almost sounds like your reading the bible instead of the newspapers!!!

We've gotten a lot of rain here in Beantown, too. I can't remember the last time I saw the sun. The thunderstorms have been frequent and loud the past four or five days.

Here in MA, we are having massive T-Storms, which I like watching but they are scary. Last night it was so bad it wasn't fun to watch anymore, it was just scary. The house across from us got struck. Nothing happened but we saw some sparks.

We're expecting more rain and t-storms tonight too.

I drive through Des Plaines on my way to work and, particularly at one spot, there have been news trucks parked there since last week. It's right at the river near downtown Des Plaines and, where there was once a road, there is very HIGH water. The road is completely closed and, has been since last week some time. I feel so bad for the people who live right on the river's banks.

The odd thing is, that it has been DRY down this way.... none of the normal afternoon rains that we normally start getting this time of year...

And the gloomy sky and atmosphere makes the days longer. Hope all is well Dan. My friends little girl has been singing "Rain Rain go away for the past week.." That means it need to stop if she notices it she is only 2!
