WOW!!! Virgin's 2011 Prices!

Just got quotes for 12 nights next May from Virgin, Disney UK and Complete Orlando (12 nights as we want to spend a few days in New Orleans first) for Coronado Springs with 14 day Disney tickets, and quick service DDP upgraded to the normal one (no flights). Virgin come out over £1000 more than Complete Orlando, and £600 more than Disney . I am well shocked by the difference, think I have been a little naive all these years just booking blindly with Virgin, because even with my 10% discount off it doesn't come anywhere close!

Am going to have a think the rest of this weekend as part of me still wants to do LA/Las Vegas and SanFran next year (DH is having a fit at the thought of not going to Florida though, I created a monster!!! ) and then will probably book Tuesday with Complete Orlando. Am going to book SSR, as that only comes out £50 than CSR with the great offer. I'm a little nervous at booking with someone new but I'm sure it will be OK. Has anyone booked any holidays with CO in the past?

I just booked with them through the week for POR next October, before booking I did numerous searches on the DIS and The Dibb of which I am also a member to see what other DISers and Dibbers thought of them and I have to say only saw positive reports. Just to be cautious though I payed my deposit on my Credit Card and unlike other companies I was not penalised for doing this.

I'm also leaning toward booking with CO. I got a quote from them for a 2 bedroom at OKW for 2011 and it was way cheaper than Disney UK. I'm just waiting a few days to see if Disney add the discount for OKW and if not I'm going to book with CO. Hopefully it will be the right decision!

I am a FVC memeber and last year we booked independently and to be honest with Virgin's prices I will be doing the same again in the future. They are so expensive.
I too am considering what to do for 2011. I am holding out for OKW/SSR but if it doesn't come on I need to decide whether to book with Disney UK for a deluxe (which is a very small increase on POR) or book with CO.

I know what you mean abot VH prices. Our VH for this summer worked at at 1800.00 more than booking DIY. But in my case Mr Tesco paid for most of it. For future years I will be doing DIY, as it is a lot cheaper.

When I looked at CO though, the flights they had from Manchester were pants, long stop overs, I don't mind paying a little extra for flying direct. If thye had better flights, I mightg go with them.

It really depends and changes from time to time. I have had some good quotes from VH in the past but over the last year they have come out a lot more. It could just be the specific dates I wanted, but my quote with VH for my October trip came up just under £1000 more than what Disney UK quoted. So I promptly booked with Disney.

Wait until the new VH brochure comes out if you can. They are likely to offer discounts to bring their prices more in line with their competitors. I think CO will have an influence on Disney UK, which will in turn have an effect on VH and the rest.

We love Florida, but this year because of our situation, we need to go to California as well, so rather than miss the florida,

I booked flight into MCO and home from LA, then booked my own 1 way flights to Vegas where we are spending the first 4 days before moving on to California.
Could maybe a compromise.

With 15% discount it came in much cheaper than Disney UK and a little cheaper than Complete Orlando for Coronado Springs with free quick dining.
Was thinking of going for OKW for about £13pn more but don't want the hassle of doing ADR's, would rather stick to the counter service and come and go as we please on holiday.
Can't believe everything's all booked. Cruise booked last week and everything else today, I've even booked the B&B and parking for the night before we fly.

Yes you do but think the offer runs out during the coming week and then it's back down to 10%, or 5% if your not a FVC member.

Can't see the details of this on the frequent virgin website, does anyone know the date it stops, someone on the dibb mentioned the 8th which is a shame because I really wanted the beach club which won't be released until the end of the month.

It's not advertised on the website but if you phone up and get a quote mentioning your FVC number they will deduct 15%. I believe it is April 8th too. The reason for 15% is because they have raised the discount for florida bookings to 10% for non FVC customers so have therefore raised FVC discount to 15%. This leads me to believe that the 10% for non FVC customers will revert back to 5% on this day too.

Virgin really have no idea what they are doing! I just rang up to get a re-quote, as I couldn't believe yesterday's price could be so much higher than everyone elses, and the man I spoke to said they can't give accommodation/ticket/ddp quotes only as yet - they HAVE to include flights until the new brochure comes out at the end of the month. Yesterday I definitely said I didn't want flights quoted . . . now I'm thinking that if she did include flights its actually a really good price!!! Arghhhh!!

Sorry to be nosey but the cruise bit of your stay have you booked direct with DCL? It's just that we are thinking of doing the Dream next year but I don't know how to do this on a quote from Virgin as I would only want a 10 night stay but a return flight home 14 days later? Do Virgin allow you to do this?

We have done this a couple of times with Virgin, once for a cruise, and once when we booked a week in a villa as part of our trip. They will just put it as "independent stay" on your itinerary.

my theory is that vh are forcing you onto travel city direct. A. to make travel city direct profitable as the infrastructure for the company was in place when virgin bought them out. B. to wind down virgin holidays package commitment to florida, thus "bigging up " tcd. i booked flights with virgin atlantic using airmiles plus money, and the hotel for £557 through vh for 11 nights

I booked the cruise through Dreams Unlimited a couple of weeks ago. You get an extra $50 stateroom credit booking through them.
Then booked 8 nights at Coranado Springs with free QSDP and the remaining 6 nights as independant stay. We'll decide on where to stay the last 2 nights after the cruise at a later date. It's worked out on a flydrive and then they add the accomodation and park tickets etc on top. You'll have to phone up for a price as you can't do it this way online.
With the 15% off and using Complete Orlando prices as a comparison for hotel and park tickets, the flights for last 2 weeks in October came in at £625 each which I didn't think was too bad for that time of year. Considering the oil prices now and the prediction of even greater oil prices to come I can only see flight prices rising in the coming months so I'm glad I've got it all sorted now.
