Finally, after 3 years of trying, we made it to the Trans-Siberian Orchestra concert last night. And man was it worth waiting for! That was by far the best non-Disney concert I can remember ever attending, especially the second half.

For those who are going like us for the first time, they didn't have any intermission, though they did take a break after playing the Christmas Eve and Other Stories album (minus a few songs) and introduced all the band and singers. Then they went into a second round where they played songs from their other CDs.

Fantastic concert, I highly recommend it, and can't wait to go again next year!! :bounce:

They are amazing in concert. Their CD is great but it cannot compare to the energy of seeing them live..

Thanks so much for the review!! We are going on Dec. 27th and I am so psyched! I've never seen them in concert and only discovered their music last Christmas.:hyper:

Wow, lucky you! I saw them last year and they were so great in concert. Anyone who has an opportunity to see them live should definitely do so.

I never heard of them before, but I saw them on Regis and Kelly a couple of weeks ago and I thought they were great. I'm going to look for a cd of theirs now.

I am friends with Mark Wood's wife. She also is an amazing singer. We were on our cruise last week so we missed their NY performance, but will catch up with them another time. They are truly amazing and Mark Wood (lead Violinist and inventor of the viper violin and viper cello) is the most talented violinist I have ever seen. Glad to hear you had a great time.

I also discovered their music last Christmas and promptly purchased their CD after hearing them on the radio. They're great! They remind me some of Mannheim Steamroller, who I also love. ::yes::

They are wonderful, aren't they?
I would love to go to one of their concerts, but I'm sure DH wouldn't want to accompany me... he has no culture:p

Denise, we're going December 27 too. Maybe I'll see you there! We went last year for the first time, and it was definitely the best concert I've ever seen. Can't wait to go again.:D

I'm very jealous right now. I wanted to see TSO and then Mannheim Steamroller next weekend but right now my schedule just won't allow it. How was the sound in Toyota Center? I've been to a hockey game there, but haven't been to a concert yet.

The sound was great, Grog! They had it loud enough to easily hear and understand everything (not to mention feel everything), but at the same time it wasn't too loud. I could hear just fine by the time we got back to the car, whereas in the past at other concerts, I've taken all night to get my hearing back. Honestly, I was looking around for the other speakers because those they had up didn't seem like enough to produce that sound. :bounce:

My husband rolled his eyes when I told him we were going to hear Mark's band one night, but he LOVED it when he heard them. He was amazed at what you can do with an electric violin. So much so he wants to see them again - kind of like Bach meets Aerosmith!

Have you had the chance to get their DVD? We try to get to a concert every year, but we also have a great Christmas Eve tradition, if that falls through. We watch the DVD. Very moving story. I cry EVERY time! :)

Keep the Faith!

Teresa, what time are you going? I'm going to the early one-- 3:00.:bounce:

I heard them this morning on GMA, they sounded really good.

Oh well, Denise, maybe I'll get to meet you some other time, we're going to the later show at 8pm. I'm on call that day until 10pm for the hospital I work for, for Case Management and Social Service issues, and we take calls from home, but most calls are in by six, and I was afraid to go to the earlier show for fear I'd be paged too many times. Have a great time, and let me know what you think. You won't be disappointed.:D
