Wow this is sick ~ my poor little sister

My little sister is almost 16 and a sophomore in high school. She goes to a private Christian school and is in chorus, she loves it. Her chorus director is a young guy, all the girls thought he was gorgous and he was the favorite teacher at her school. My little sister had a little crush on him, i'm sure many of the girls there did. At Christmastime he told the kids he was moving on to a Christian enlightening program. All the kids were very upset to see him leave. On their last performace before he left they honored him and were all crying and all.

My little sister called me crying today and she sent me a link from the newspaper. This guy was arrested last night for 4 unlawful sexual acts on a minor. We never ever saw this coming. She is so upset! We're trying to get the real story, lots of rumors and all out there right now. Finding out now that it was a boy, SICK SICK! What the heck was going through this idiots mind? To think he was the most loved teacher at that school and my little sister looked up to him. UGH.

My twin sister drove by the school today, it's actually 1/3 of a mile down the road from me.... there were tons of news stations there so i'm sure we'll be seeing all about it on the news tonight.

I hope they have some sort of assembly for the kids when they get to school tomorrow, otherwise it's going to be a mess...

Same thing happened with my brother's chorus teacher. EVERYONE loved him then a few years later they found out he had fooled around with some female students.

Basically happened in to DD's bio teacher a year or 2 ago. He was her favorite teacher. Him and his wife had an exchange student staying with them and there were some sort of sexual allegations against him and he admitted to them. Very sad sitation.

We had a wonderful bilingual teacher a few years back...............he moved on to another school and we were all sorry to see him go.

About a year and a half later, they had him on the news for some sort of sexual crime against children.........students of his at the new school. There were two little girls, about 10, I think. We were all devastated too. We just had no idea, many of us had counted him as a friend. It was a difficult realization that he could've done the same to some of our students and they never let on.

His former students had counseling for about an hour and a half as a group the next day after the story broke.

My brother had this police explorer leader (its a program for young kids to get involved with the police Dept.) and he was arrested for molesting some of the boys in the explorer program..no one saw that one coming!

My 2 youngest had their middle school art teacher arrested for child pornography. The kids all loved him...luckily nothing ever involved any of his students, but boy did my girls get me asking them thousands of questions to make sure.

This is the most common type of child molester, not some stranger on the street. Sadly it is the stranger on the street most people spend their time protecting their children from.

When I went to high school, there was a band assistant. We knew he was close to a student who had recently lost her mother in an accident. Come to find later he was charged with sex with a minor, her. He was ewww to begin with though.

Sometimes though, people get charged with crimes they didn't do. I played serious tennis when I was younger. I had the same coach for 10 years. He was openly gay and had a great relationship with all his acadamy students. We used to go to away tournaments all the time. We would rent 2 bedroom condos. He would make the boys sleep in one room and girls in the other and he would sleep in a chair in the middle... absolutely NO funny business was gonna happen.

Imagine my surprise about a year after I quit tennis, I was 19.. and saw on the news he was arrested for sexual acts on a minor. We immediately knew he did not do it. There were complete lies about our tennis trips... stuff that my sister and I know did NOT happen, we were there! We wrote letters to the judge and if it had gone to trial would have testified in his behalf. But all in all, he took a plea bargain. Now I know that it was stupid of him because it made him look guilty. But with the plea bargain he did not have to go to jail... he was on probation and couldn't work with children. The boy who made the complaint word would have been enough to put him in jail although there wasn't any physical proof! He quit teaching tennis, he had to register as a sex offender. He paints houses now :-( I was very close with him for 10 years, I was there on the trips they were saying stuff happened.. he did NOT do it.

If you and your sister slept at all on these trips how can you be completely sure nothing happened to one of the other kids?Especially the boys that were in a different room?I would never let my kids stay in the same condo/hotel room with an adult male and no other parent chaperones...

The unfortunate thing is, it happens. Another unfortunate thing is sometimes people get accussed of this who did nothing.

There was a very creepy coach when I was in HS. He cheated on his wife with a student, got her pregnant and married her, two years latter he repeated the whole thing! Sick, and what is worse he never lost his job. I heard he died in a diving accident awhile back.

Just watched the 11pm news. It turns out the retreat program he went to was for people dealing with sexual sin. Of course we did not know that! So the high school must have known... wow.

He admitted to the acts while at this retreat, this boy was a student at a different Christian school in the area, they had done a play at the local playhouse. It was the original boy but apparently he also admitted to having a relationship with a student at my little sister's school... same age as her.

I had tears in my eyes when I saw him on tv at his arraignment... he looks so guilty. We all trusted him and he was loved at that school, what the heck was he thinking? Also, he was supposed to be totally straight.

I know the feeling of betrayal ~ especially when it's someone you respect. That's how we felt when our PASTOR from our church & school (where my DS attends) was arrested for Child Pornography.

We were all a family in shock (family meaning ~ our church community). I hope he rots in 'you know where.'

I hope your DSis will be okay. Maybe the school will provide counseling? If not, maybe your parents would consider taking her. It's such a shock to find out something like this of someone you trusted & admired.

Unfortunately, sexual predators are drawn to jobs involving kids. It's sick isn't it??

When I was in high school, we had a teacher that would hit on some of the girls, dated one of them that I know. He wasn't too much older than us, but still inappropriate. He ended up marrying a girl that honestly looked like a child, very pretty, but really, really youthful looking. He is a superintendant or principal of schools near here now, still married to her, but ewww.

Teacher in another district here was married, in his 30's and took up with one of his 16 year old students. The proverbial carpet was picked up on that one so that all the dirt could be swept under it. He ended up marrying her and having kids yuk.

You can never be too careful and should never be too trusting.

Just curious. How did you know he was "supposed to be totally straight"? I wouldn't have expceted him to discuss his sexuality (straight or gay) with his students.

In my mind, that issue makes no difference. He acted in appropriately with a student. End of story. I'm sure your sister is very upset at this news, but I really don't think it would have been any better if he'd been acused of having sex with a young female student.

And, as someone else pointed out, there are also case where people are falsely accused and lives are ruined. We had a wonderful girl's basketball coach when I was in high school. He was just terriffic. A few years after I graduated, one of the girls on the team accused him of touching her in some very inappropriate ways. He was fired. His name and picture were in papers all over the state. He got hate mail and all kinds of threats. He eventually moved away, and a few years later, he killed himself. Not too long after that happened, the girl, who was in college by then, admited she had made the whole thing up to get back at him for not allowing her enough time in the games.

a girl i went through school with ran off on her 18th birthday with the highschool band teacher, crossed into nevada and married him (he had dropped off his letter of resignation that morning and had already secured another job based on his stellar reputation) they had been secretly involved since she was 14. HIS children were older than her.

I guess it's not just Catholics and not just priests who do this, and it's not just the Catholic Church who covers it up.

When I was in High School, a teacher, Mr. A, was sleeping with this 15 year old, Mary. He left the school voluntarily, so I would bet his record didn't follow him. He was smarmy, though. It honestly wasn't that much of a surprise.

In our archdiocese, everybody who has any direct contact with children has to do a course on child abuse and sexual predators, and undergo a background search to be sure that they are safe to be with the children. We are Catholic, of course. I am not sure this is true all over the country, but, in our archdiocese, it is.

Actually, from the OP description of the teacher, I wasn't at all surprised about the final outcome. As somebody else already pointed out, he fits the profile of a sexual predator.

Now, I have been around for a while, and in my experience, none of the priests I have been in contact with have been problems, but, I went to school with a girl who married her math teacher right after graduating from high school. I was a freshman in college myself, and I thought it was totally icky, even at that age (we were the same age). We had a pastor at one of the protestant churches in the community who has a real sexual addiction--he would dump boxes of pornographic material behind stores in the area. I don't think he actually got any real punishment, other than he was transferred.
