IN NorCal in Thursday we're getting a heck if a storm. They say it'll be the most powerful storm in 6 years. So we'll be driving down to Disneyland on Wednesday instead if Thursday. But the forecast for that area on Friday is a doozy of a storm - they must be a day behind us. I wouldn't mind too much, but we'll have our 7 month grandson with us. We'll take turns staying in our suite if we have to.

Yes we will be there on Friday and Saturday and its shaping up to be rainy day on both days. A minor set back, so the raincoats will be out with us!

We are in NorCal too and it's supposed to be 10-11 inches this storm!! We are driving down Thursday late night and doing DTD a Friday then the parks Sat-Mon. My Weather.com app says Sat is ok but possible rain Mon or Tues right now... I have a 3 month old with us so I'm hoping to avoid the rain out park days (if we just had DD7 with us I might want rain for crowd control lol). Here's to hoping we can keep the littlest Mouseketeers dry one way or another- may be good show days

I just want to say, we just drove home from the parks yesterday, and I have never seen so many CHP on I5 before! Drive carefully and the speed limit :goodvibes And I really hope the rain isn't too bad so your grandson can enjoy! Have fun

Friday will definitely have rain, but we've been monitoring the forecast and Saturday is now showing sunny with a 10% chance of rain (as of today). It looks like it will move out for Saturday, just fyi.

I'm still debating if we keep our F! dinner package for Friday, or go with the one we also have reserved on Sunday (we'll be canceling one of them)... If it'll clear up by F! time, I'd rather do it Friday, but I don't want to watch it in the rain and then you miss out on some of it because they have to take out elements they can't do in the rain...

From what I saw when I checked tonight, the rain is supposed to taper off in the early a.m. Saturday morning, so I'd probably lean towards cancelling the Friday reservations if it were me.

I cant believe how bad this storm is going to be. I am in the Bay Area and most of the schools are cancelled here. That never happens here for weather. The grocery stores had 100's of people in line. I hope it is not that bad in Disneyland on Friday. I will be there Saturday so I am glad I will miss most of it.

I couldn't believe when I heard all the schools cancellations! All of Marin County plus a couple of the big cities cancelled school already- yikes I can't remember them ever doing that!! Were heading from the north bay Thursday night then doing DTD on Friday and DL on Sat so hoping we miss the worst for the parks too! We are doing 3 days then a Knott's Berry Farm day and sounds like Mondsy and Tuesday will have some rain too

These will be good storms, and very necessary. But closing schools is a little over the top extreme. I'm from the Bay Area, and am quite surprised to hear this. But then again, some schools here in SoCal were closed a day or two during our September heat wave. I can't understand what society is coming to. The Bay Area storms are going to consist of rain and wind. We're not talking about blizzards and hurricanes.

You have to take into account that we have been (and continue to be) in severe drought. The parched land and dry trees are not able to handle the intense amount of precipitation all at once. Couple that with winds gusting up to 80mph (so hurricane force)-flooding and downed trees (and therefore power lines) are widely expected.

I'm at the GCH right now but DH and DDs are still at home in the Bay Area. I am hoping they'll be ok (there school hasn't been canceled...yet) and will still be able to fly down and meet me here Friday. Looks like I'll be hiding in my room that day from the rain!

We arrive tomorrow evening and are prepared for the rain! Being from Seattle means rain is no big thing :thumbsup2

While rain makes it more challenging it definitely keeps massive crowds away. That's the plus especially during the Christmas season where it feels even more crowded than summer.

I thought closing the schools was crazy too, but we've gotten 4 1/2 inches of rain in less then 24 hours. My DD's school was closed today because the freeway is closed near her school. It's a crazy storm here up north but sounds like it's coming south Thursday night/Friday- hopefully everyone stays safe and has lots of magic at Disney this week anyway!

I am in the brunt of this storm and I can tell you the school closures were necessary. There is wide spread flooding, so even if the schools themselves are fine, teachers and parents aren't able to get to the schools. It is in the best interest of the kids. It's not just some rain & wind, I can promise you. BTW, we had hurricane force winds overnight.

I drove to work today. Traffic was actually quite light, but the conditions were such that stuff like standing water (my car turned into a hydrofoil once) and idiots tailgating became an issue. I saw the results of a few spinouts and rear-end collisions along the way.

Rain in Seattle usually isn't this hard. It's like a constant drizzle (the best nickname I read was "Seattle spittle") that doesn't seem to go away, and not a hard pounding rain that causes flooding and wind damage.

I remember reading that Seattle's annual precipitation is actually lower than New York City's. However, New York City gets a little over half the average DAYS of precipitation than Seattle.

The last day I was in Seattle it was really, really nice. The sun was out and I went one a nice trip to the Seattle Center with my kid. Then in late afternoon we had to go to the airport and it had to start raining, although there was a rainbow. I guess our trip wouldn't have been complete without being punctuated by some rain.

We're in the North Bay, which I believe got hit the hardest. Both of the major roads that DH could have taken to work were both flooded, so he worked from home today. Many of the streets in our city are completely flooded and closed (they're slowly reopening right now).

I know it may not seem like a lot to those who get hit harder, but when you don't get a tremendous amount of rain usually, getting it all at once is dangerous.

Rain should make the first day/weekend of Fantasmic Fastpass even more interesting.

I just wanted to let you know -- because I know this will put everyone's mind at ease ;);):lmao: -- that I just received one of my ABC-7 "Breaking News" emails (they "break news" about everything, though, so that's nothing new), in which it said that the L.A. County Supervisor and other county representatives are holding a press conference today at 4 p.m. to discuss preparations for the storm.

Yep. If they are holding a press conference to discuss storm preparations, that means they expect a big one in L.A. (and whatever we get in L.A. will then mosey on down to Anaheim), even though it's expected to move out of the area by sometime on Saturday.

You see, the problem is that we are literally not equipped and built to handle large amounts of rain over extended periods of time, or in very short, intense bursts. Our storm drains back up fast and the streets flood quickly. Our roofs cave in. Mudslides are always a danger. Subterranean parking garages flood. Flash floods are a problem. People can't drive in heavy rain. It's a mess. As far as my being personally inconvenienced in any way, at the very least my phone service will go out for several days in heavy rain, if not the power too.

Hopefully some of the impact of the storm will dissipate by the time it hits us, and then hits Orange County.

Our local news folks love to whip out the dramatic "Storm Track," "Storm Watch," "Storm Center" and "Doppler Radar" graphics whenever they can, so these weather events are exciting to them.

I ended up cancelling my Blue Bayou Friday reservation :(. I booked Riverbelle Terrace on Saturday for the Fantasmic! dining fastpass. I'm bummed. I really wanted to try Blue Bayou.
