Wow - OKW no availability end of October???

I am trying to change my 1 bedroom to a 2 bedroom for Oct. 24-31, and no availability at all! Not even a studio for my son to reserve if we can't get a 2 bedroom. SSR is available, but we all had our hearts set on OKW. I guess we'll switch to SSR so we can all be together, then waitlist OKW for that week.
I'm guessing they are holding onto rooms for maybe AP rates to come out soon or just for cash guests? I can't believe that OKW is full up for end of October - we usually enjoy how quiet it is that time of year. Guess everyone else figured that out too!

October is Food & Wine Festival time. Extremely popular with DVC owners, and no surprise that it is heavily booked.

Add to that the MNSS Halloween Party, and the fact that you're looking for a 2BR (harder to book than 1BR) and it adds up to challenging availability.

By the way, Disney cannot "hold onto" rooms available for DVC booking for cash purposes. They have their own small percentage of the resorts that they reserve for that.

You are kind of late to get October. Many years ago it was a slower time. Until Disney started adding things to the calendar. MNSSHP used to be only two nights, Oct 30 and 31. Now it starts in Sept and runs into Nov. They've added half marathons. The Food & Wine draws big crowds.

Like Granny said, there is no holding rooms out for cash paying customers. Anytime a member books a non-DVC Disney vacation, they take the points that would have been used and sell those villas to anyone through Disney Reservation Center.

We booked our 1 bedroom back in March - we pick the last week of Oct, 1st week of November to cover our anniversary and both mine and Dh's birthdays. So I still have my 1 bdrm at OKW - my son just decided to join us (Me, DH, DD and DDBF), so we're trying to add on so him and his girlfriend can be beside us. We're voting later today to see if everyone agrees to let OKW go for SSR, and then waitlist OKW! We stay at OKW every year because we love it, and DDBF and DSGF have never been - but I'm open to change so we can all be together!

The third week of Oct has been the same for 6 or more weeks - in fact I had to waitlist SSR to get a 2BR for one out of 5 nights. OKW had nothing and neither did any other resort.

I have been waitlisted for a 2BR at OKW for several monthis for October. I dont think it will come through. We had to book SSR instead. At least we were able to get that!
