I am new and I apologize if there has already been a thread like this, but do any of you remember the moment you realized you needed to lose weight?
Mine was when we got back from Disney and was looking at pictures, specifically :sad2:

Anyone else?

When I couldn't zip up my coat I had bought just a year ago. My middle had grown too big.

Half of it was pictures and half was just me being fed up with being unhealthy. A lot my role models, actors and actresses I look up to are extremely healthy and that gave me an extra boost. I just want to be healthy and succesful. I was tired of my self confidence always being low because of how I looked. When I thought of doing yoga I wanted that peace everyone kept saying they were getting from it.

Thank you both for sharing with me. I'm just getting started and it helps to see others progress :)

Mine was definitely pictures. I gained 30 lbs. when I moved away from home and I never realized it until I saw pictures of myself and couldn't recognize myself. But I think instead of getting disgusted with myself I used it as a learning tool that now that I know what it feels like to be heavier I never want to feel that way again. That in itself is great motivation. I lost the 30 lbs. (my biggest success was aiming to lose 2 lbs. a month, not 10 lbs. or something I knew I couldn't lose) and now when I feel myself without motivation I look at those pictures. I also put 30 lbs. (my hand held weights) in my arms and walk around thinking about what a strain that had to be putting on my body and how uncomfortable it is to carry it around.

This is so sad, but I actually practiced which way to stand and pose to make me look thinner. And, even worse, I learned that I could hide a lot of my fat by holding my 3 year old in the photos!! How sad is that!!

But yes, photos, and the realization that all of my friends were thinner than me. It was a lifestyle that I was living, not one everyone around me was living. I hate being the fat friend!!

And, I want to be able to keep up with my daughter and not teach her my lazy habits!!
