Can't believe we will be at DL next month!! Yippee!!:cool1: First real DL trip and staying at VGC for 8 nights. Planning on 6 day park passes though I have heard we will be bored with that many days. However we are hoping to do it in a nice relaxing pace and having time to enjoy the resort. Now I want to buy park passes and wondering if anyone has suggestions for a cheaper price than Disney site is offering now. Hate to purchase and then find a great deal!:) Thanks for any help.

vare deed you heer this?? Name names! :lmao:

I'm guessing you heard this on the dark side of the Dis boards. ;)

The beauty of DLR (especially if staying on-site) is that you don't have to go morning to midnite. It's just a few steps away. Take breaks, avoid the crowds enjoy other stuff.

Use all your MM mornings.....go to the beach one afternoon.....do DTD another afternoon.......enjoy the pool/hotel/etc. Check out the other hotels.....or drive into LA after MM (& come back for the fireworks at night). Plus see each & every show (& WOC, fireworks etc).....you're just a few steps away!!!! (& No stinkin' buses to mess with!!!! :thumbsup2)

But get 6 day (or if available 7 day or 8 day).....& sample DL or DCA each day when it's less crowded or when it suits you....hop in & out ...& back & forth each day. :)

Hopefully others will chime in on the cheapest 6 day (or wouldn't it make sense for discounts etc to just get an AP??) or 7 day or 8 day.

Have a great time at Walt's Park. :hippie:

:)

we're looking for the same thing...need to buy the tickets. we've been holding out hoping for a deal.
the cheapest we found was at getawaytoday.com but I think that someone said (can anyone confirm this?) that if you buy the tickets from disneyland.com, then you don't have to wait at the ticket booth? If so, then the $15 we would save would be worth spending I think to avoid one more line and delay to get into the park :)

We did 6 days and were NOT bored. wished we'd had longer. There are a couple places where tickets are 3-4 dollars cheaper, but you have to take a voucher to the ticket booth and get tickets once there. Straight through disney you go straight to the gate -no extra line/wait.

Thank you! that's what I was looking for confirmation on. we'll be buying ours from disney then.

OP, you will NOT be bored with 6 days! we went for 5 last visit and we wished we had more, we missed so much. 6 days is hopefully going to be the magic number for us since we can't get more than that. Enjoy it...take your time, redo things you liked and take breaks back at the hotel or DTD. Makes it so much more enjoyable when you aren't rushing through morning till night with no breaks.

Bored at DISNEYLAND??? How??

In 2009 we went for 6 days, and we'll be doing another 6 days at the end of this month. Also, it's still the off season so lower crowds and we love that time. It makes for a more relaxing trip like Hound said. Take it ALL in. You don't have to circle your priorities, you can do it all and enjoy every second of it.

As for tickets, the cheapest we found was Getawaytoday.com. We got 6 day PH for $191 for adults and my son was $181 (I think). Regardless it was the cheapest way to go for us and I've used them before and was very happy with them. All you do is print out your receipt and trade it in at the ticket office right outside the main gate. Have a great time.

Pooey on those that could ever get bored at Walt's Place!

If the OP is staying at the Grand, they can actually take the voucher to Guest Services (front desk) and they will get the actual pass for them. I've done this before - they're great :thumbsup2

Right now you can still get the promotional 6-day hopper for $196 at Disneyland.com, valid until April 14. I'm not sure if GAT is cheaper than that, but it's still a good deal.

And yes, gapoochi, if you buy online at Disneyland.com, you just print out the vouchers and take them directly to the gate, bypassing the ticket booths. At the gate they'll take and swipe the vouchers, and give you regular park hoppers -- indistinguishable from those bought at the booths. Saves a bunch of time.

Hound 109 said it the best! You won't get bored - take it leisurely and enjoy! If the weather is nice, rent a cabana by the villas for 1/2 day - they are awesome! We did that - after dropping our stuff in the cabana, we went into DCA to ride GGR with fastpasses in our swimsuits (with cover ups on of course!) and got soaked!

As far as tickets, for 6 day parkhoppers, DL has a great price right now on a promotional ticket - $196/adults and $176/kids. Getaway today prices are $191/$171 so you save $5/per ticket. I check lastminutetravel (another great place for tickets) but they only go up to 5 day tickets @ $191/adults. I believe getawaytoday actually send you the tickets - it has been a while since I used them. If they only send you a voucher, since you are staying at the VGC, you can turn the voucher in at the front desk for the tickets so no waiting in another line.

Don't forget to order some groceries from Vons to be delivered to the villas - saves a trip to the store and bell services will hold the groceries for you if you are not there (you just have to be there to sign if there is alcohol).

Have a great time - the villas are gorgeous!

Yep, I can also verify that this is a possibility and super easy :cool1:

Love.. Love... Love my fellow DIS friends!! I was a bit nervous as we don't plan to rent a car and are going to stay at the resort so I am thrilled to hear so many responses saying we won't be bored!! Reading these posts has me pumped!! Thank you all!! :mickeyjum

OP...we leave in a little over 2 weeks and I haven't bought our tickets yet either! So glad I'm not the only one!;)

Here's places that I've researched, although I'm looking for a 4 day pass, so can't tell you how these will compare to a 6 day. But worth looking into...

Disney site (of course)
Last Minute Travel
AAA
Get Away Today
Ares Travel
Costco
Entertainment Book

What I found for the 4 day passes is that Get Away Today (GAT), ET Book, Ares and Disney were all priced about the same. Give or take a few dollars. GAT came in the cheapest, so maybe start there??

Costco had THE best deal, however you had to be a SoCal resident. Which I'm not, so that was a no go.:rolleyes1

And my biggest surprise when researching is that the rates offered on the ET book website were excellent! Literally only $.82 more then GAT.

Good luck!

I noticed that ET had great rates as well. I don't think they sold 6 PH though did they?

I have NO idea!;)

I was looking for 3 and possibly 4 day PH, and I know they had these. I was just so surprised at how good there rates really were. OP will have to do a little research....

And frankly, very disappointed in how awful AAA rates were.:sad2: Sad, since AAA used to be our "go to" place for tickets. Especially with free parking it was always a good deal...but not anymore.

I have to agree. We checked with our local AAA office just to see what the rates would be and I was blown away. I told her we had looked through GAT and the rates were about 400 less than what AAA offered. She tried to act like she had never heard of GAT. She tried to say all the extras that AAA offered make it worth it. I thought you're crazy if you think we're paying that much more for their luggage tags and extra MM. Just really not worth it. I'd rather extend my trip for a day than to pay them for their extras.

Ha! My AAA didn't even offer any "extras" except 1 MM. Um...hello? Everyone offers that! And luggage tags...oooh, that's totally going to make me want to pay $400 more! The only "extras" my AAA offered was the 1 MM and free parking. That's it! And since we usually stay at the HoJo's and walk over, free parking isn't needed.

AAA really needs to re-evaluate and get with the program. I think the only people who buy their park tickets from them anymore, are those that just don't know any better.:headache: And I feel just awful saying that since my mom was a travel agent with AAA for over 10 years....but there prices in general just can't compete.

We just got back from our trip and I also looked at the Entertainment book as well. I was shocked at how low their prices were, but then they added a bunch of fees on the end that brought the price up to be more than GAT. So we ended up getting them from GAT.

GAT sent us a letter in the mail. When we checked in, I gave it to the CM and she went in back and got our tickets for us. So we didn't have to go to the front gate to pick up the tickets. It was super easy.

Actually, I called DL today and they said you have to be a SoCal resident to buy Costco's deal (but Costco doesn't check that), and DL would NOT be checking for residency at the gate.

Soooo. you could buy the Costco 4-day park hopper pass which comes with a $50.00 Disney gift card (good an souvenirs, food and even PARK TICKETS). You Pay $199 for a 4 day pass and use the $50 gift card to upgrade to a 6 day pass! They deliver in 3 days and are good until May 31, 2011. Also, they are 100% refundable if you find a better deal somewhere.

Also, ARES Travel has better ticket prices than Disneyland.com. Not sure about the line thing though.

doesn't that then make the 6 day ph cost $199? isn't it cheaper than that on the website right now?
I'm looking for the best deal I can before I buy (need to get them bought by this weekend) and I was thinking about this but not sure if it works since the gate price is much more than the promo online. unless I'm missing something..
thanks!
