WOW - I just sold my old gold........

Paypal is set up by the email address you assigned it. For example, I have a friend that woes me $20. She is out of state and wants to paypal me it, so all I had to do is give her the email address I use for paypal. She then went to her account, and sent me the money.

Oh wow, that sounds so easy!

So for these gold guys, you literally just give them your email address and it will arrive safely?

And then i have to transfer it to a bank account, or charge number, right?

Thank you, I appreciate the info!

It was super easy! I have a paypal mastercard- so I can just use it like a credit card OR you can have them transfer it to your bank account. They can also write you a check- but it takes a little longer.

It isn't the value of the jewelry - it's the fact that he bought it for me. But I may just get him to take it to a jeweler so he can see the value of it.
Thanks again!

I can understand your DH's reluctance to sell something of sentimental value.

Can you sort out what you wear and what you haven't worn for xx years? And try to define why you do or don't wear certain items? Then discuss it with him. If he can understand that, he may be more open to selling some pieces.

He also may consider some pieces to be family heirlooms--or wants them to become family heirlooms! *LOL*

I poked through my jewelry box over the weekend and discovered--very easily--2.5 oz. of 14K jewelry that I haven't worn in at least 15 years. All of it was gifts--mostly from my ex. There is one riccio bracelet that is absolutely gorgeous and I love it--but I can't stand to wear bracelets! It isn't doing anyone any good just sitting there. *LOL*

I'm planning another sort this weekend, with some time to think about a few items. I "kept" two herringbone necklaces--not sure I'll ever wear them, but they are in the "keep" batch for the moment. There are some earrings that I wear occasionally that I'll keep. And two pairs of hoop earrings that are doubtful. The design is a bit different and I love both of them, but round earrings next to this round face. *sigh*

I'm keeping my 18K gold--most of which I purchased, but some is from my ex. I do wear most of it periodically. And I'm keeping my grandmother's and mother's wedding bands. Nothing fancy, just lots of sentimental value! :)

I have a question for those who have used usgoldbuyers or goldfellows - were you given a breakdown of the amount you were offered piece by piece or was it just a lump sum for the whole bunch? If I have a lot, do you think I would be better off doing a little bit at a time?

If you go to their website, you'll see their daily prices, which begin with 5 troy oz. of gold. They do buy smaller quantities, but the price will be lower.

I haven't sold anything yet, so I'll find out in a couple of weeks when I get everything together! :)

Well, US Goldbuyers just signed for my package at 12:13. Should take a day or two for me to hear from them. Just hope the gold prices keep rising;)

Thank you for the info. I'm really uncertain because its all new to me, but also because it will hopefully be a nice sum, i hope i hope!!

So all you need is your email address for them to deposit $$ in my paypal account? That still amazes me! Really, it does! :)

And from what I remember on previous posts, there's no transaction fee?

Thanks again for any info and reassurance!

Hooray!!! Just got my call from USgoldbuyers for what I sent them last week. Drum roll please.....$1251.92. I almost passed out! :cool1: After adding to it the 3 pieces DH did, I would have only gotten about $850-950 from the local place I went to. Thank you Diser's!!! This will so help pay for our April trip to Cali and DL.

Wow is right!! I just sold 6 thinnish rope bracelets, 2 prs of earings, and 2 rings (all 14K) and recieved $792 ($20 x 39.1 pennyweight). Pretty happy w/that...haven't worn the items in years (and hey, that's almost 5 plane tix to WDW!!!). Thanks for the heads up, OP.

Just got my call too! $801.00!

I had, I think less than 2 oz, so I am happy!

Awesome, congrats!

Are they sending it via paypal or check? I'm using them, too.

Also, are they returning anything that wasn't gold?

I requested a check. Should be here in a few days. I didn't send anything that I didn't know was real gold, so can't answer that. However, they aren't sending back any of my gemstones. Told me they bought them as well (even though not for much according to the guy on the phone). Anxious to see a breakdown of what they paid for what. I had both 10K and 14K yellow gold.

I was so excited about the amount, I forgot to ask for the breakdown. Will they be sending that with the check?

I just my package out today, so I am very excited to see what I get. They won't receive it until Thursday, which is a bummer, but hopefully I will hear something on Friday. How long is everybody waiting before they hear from Goldfellow's?

I'm getting really nervous...they (goldbuyers) received my package on Friday t 9:42 a.m. and I still haven't heard anything...

I am on my out the door to drop off my envelope at a Fedex....

I dont remember indicating whether I want a check or not....did we do that on their website? (Goldfellow)?

ANyway - I have about 1.5 ounces (not much) of almost all 14K - one thin bracelet is 10K....I cant wait to see what it is worth!

Okay, I used usgoldbuyers and had a good experience. The goldfellow guy seems like a nice enough guy and from what I've read, people are also having a good experience using him.

I am no math expert, but I decided to compare the payouts for 14k based on what both websites are offering.

Goldfellow:
paying $14.08 per dwt if less than 1 oz; paying $15.48 per dwt if 1-5 oz.
factor in that he appears to be offering an additional 10% for dis'ers

usgoldbuyers:
pays $27.70 per dwt for 5-50 oz.; when I called, I was told that I would receive 10% less, if I had less than 5 oz.

Sample 1:
.8 oz of 14k gold = 16 dwt
Goldfellow: 16 x 14.08 = 225.28 (+ 22.50 if in fact he is giving an additional 10% to dis members) = $247.80
usgoldbuyers: 16 x 27.7 = 443.32 - 44.32 (10% less b/c under 5 oz) = $398.88
goldfellow payout $247.80 vs. usgoldbuyers payout $398.88

Sample 2:
3.0 oz of 14k gold = 60 dwt
Goldfellow: 60 x 15.48 = $928.80 (+ possible 10% more? of 92.88) = 1021.68
usgoldbuyers: 60 x 27.7 = $1662 - 166.2 (10% less b/c under 5 oz) = 1495.80
goldfellow payout $1021.68 vs. usgoldbuyers payout $ 1495.80

Hope that helps someone! :)

Okay after reading this I decided to wait for USgoldbuyers packaging even though I already have everything packaged and ready for Goldfellow....seems like SUCH a big difference in payouts doesnt it?

I called usgoldbuyers and they gave me a link, which provided instructions as well as their fed ex account #. I did not have to pay for the fed ex.

Can you pm the link? I requested information from them last week via their website but have still not gotten anything from them and would love to get this stuff out the door!! I would really appreciate it if you could.

Thanks

Personally, I would be holding on to my gold given the state of the dollar. Gold's value will only going up, up, up.

Maybe.

Maybe not.

Just like the stock market, there's no way to know.

For those of us needing a little cash now, getting rid of old stuff just sitting around, this is the PERFECT time!

:thumbsup2 :goodvibes :cheer2:

Curious if anybody has asked Goldfellow that question, since there is such a big difference in their prices. Especially if they were nice enough to add the dis 10% in too.
