We have been to Disneyland a number of times but have never stayed onsite. This time we are splurging and are going to spend our wad on the DLH!! :yay: :goodvibes :yay: We will be there mid-April (Sat-Wed) for my son's 6th year old birthday. What should I do to maximize this visit? Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas of things not to miss? We are trying to go as budget as possible i.e. our room is a standard view but we do get a character breakfast included in our Costco package. ANY help would be appreciated. I just really want this to be a special visit.

Thanks,

Kathy

Make sure you plan some time to enjoy the pool. It is very well themed.

Yes, the pool is nice and take time to enjoy the grounds. They are beautiful! Our "splurge" was our last visit in 2005. We spent the first evening walking around the grounds and DTD. Very enjoyable! That was also our first time staying onsite after several trips. We won't be staying there this trip, this is our "economy" trip. We will be staying at BWPPI. We will have one extra day in the parks this time though. 6 instead of 5.

Have a great trip! I know you will enjoy the DLH!

Give Vacation Planning a call. Be sure to tell them it is your son's birthday trip and let them know which character is his favorite. They might send a little magic your way....:wizard: They can also help set up your PS times, have a written itinerery waiting for you at check-in and answer all of your questions! It is one of the perks of staying at one of the DLH resorts, so take full advantage of it.

Have fun. 6 is such a great age!!!

You'll be able to take advantage of MM on Sat., Sun, & Tues, if inclined to do so....which could allow you to:

- enjoy FL with no lines (one two or three days).
- Nemo with little or no lines (which you would never want to waste a MM on if you only had one).
- Ride Buzz 7 times in a row one morning. :yay:

Has your son done Jedi Training?

Don't let your son drop the key in the waterfall :rotfl2: happened to us , great customer service , they replace it quickly and did not laugh at us in our bathing suits !
Enjoy looking at all the disney touches in the room, study the bedspread and take home some Mickey shampoo and soap as a souvineer.
Breakfast in the steak houe is very good and they are great with kids.

Its fun to let the parents sit and have a drink at the Lost Bar whilst the younguns play with the coin-operated boats on the pond.

Request the Sierra Tower, DtD view. Watch fireworks from your bed at least one night. Maybe the kids can order up some ice cream from room service while the 'rents enjoy a little champagne as the show takes place in front of you.

We aways sneak new pj's with DD's favorite Disney Characters (princesses of course) I leave them with guest services. They leave them in the room, on the bed with balloons and an autographed picture. Talk about magic! DD always freaks out!!

I like to order virgin drinks from the bar while the kids are swimming- what a treat!

We ordered a cake from the hotel and had a chocolate Mickey statue on top. It was very good and reasonable.

Sounds great. :thumbsup2 But as long as you're calling the hotel bakery can you add a couple of those mickey rice crispie treats with the chocolate covered ears to the order. :dance3:

Thanks for all of the replies. What exactly is Jedi training? Would a six year old like it?

Yes, a 6yo would absolutely love it. Kids get chosen to be jedi knights in training. They are given a robe and a toy lightsaber as part of their training. The kids practice their moves with their lightsabers and eventually have to use those moves against Darth Vader or Darth Maul. They don't get to keep the robes or lightsabers but they are given a certificate for participation. My kids have done it twice and it was the hightlight of a trip for my son. There are little video clips on youtube. Here's a couple: http://youtube.com/watch?v=1QCzyp52ja8 http://youtube.com/watch?v=0aovoXpx0j8
